  1. What, exactly, makes sign people qualified to design anything?

I think it depends on the sign maker. I think I am an OK designer of solid, simplistic things. Could I design a wrap? Probably not. But I'd try to. Do I know jack sh!t about CMYK or color profiling? Not at all. But I can do a snappy black and white layout. I have seen the most God-awful...
  2. Paint Brushes?

Mineral oil, as mentioned, is also a great choice. I do not use motor oil or transmission fluid on my brushes, ever. I think those are "dirty" and can make you get fish eyes in your paint if not thoroughly rinsed out. I have used vaseline on my brushes when travelling (a tip from John Jordan)...
  3. Howdy

Any relation to Hobie "Mack" MacQuarrie (sp?) who used to send out the cool old lettering sheets? (I think that was his name, I used to get 'em in the early 90s) Welcome from PA Love....Jill
  4. Logo Concept #2

    Needs claws.

  6. 2013 Walldogs Design

I'd love to see the border and outlines in black (I love pink and black together) Actually all the parts you have maroon except for the top date part in black. I'd also like to see the pig holding the mask rather than the mask laying down/overlapping the border part. I also don't like the white...
  7. Logo Concept #2

    Kerning is still wonky.
  8. Logo Concept #2

That's better, but it has some kerning issues. I'd stack the text left justified and put the paw on the other side. Make sure your background panel has the same slant as your text.
  9. Logo Concept #2

Wow...I just googled "Tiger Paw Logo" holy cow. Everyone must like that name and new ideas for it are few and far between. I thought of either a heraldic tiger or a saber tooth tiger as an icon, but neither are very appealing. I think I would just use text. Because it says Tiger right in it...
  10. Paint Brushes?

I would not start with tempera, the feel/drag is entirely different and may hinder his ability to learn to use the brush properly. The Macks would be a great start for him, I prefer the red-handled ones. Get him a sample kit of Ronan (Glantz will ship directly from Ronan) of 6 half-pints: black...
  11. Logo Concept #2

The colors are washed out. Are you actually cutting vynull with an X-Acto knife? That seems a bit weird to me. In the name, as Bruce pointed out, it looks like you've made your outline from the inside out, thus truncating your font. The tagline is just kind of hanging there apart from...
  12. New Website. Thoughts?

Are you also new to the area? I don't see any 724 area codes. I think the site is a bit hard to navigate. The logo is atrocious. Love....Jill
  13. Current Project

^^^This, and I would flat-out change that Gerber era script. Love....Jill
  14. White cut vinyl for smaller decals

I love Oracal white (any number) it is on a blue backer paper thus making it much easier to weed/see. Love....Jill
  15. Dennis @ D&T

Have a great day, Dennis. You da man! Love you. Jill
  16. Question about Magic Sculpt for a house sign.

It's called EZ Sculpt about $80 a gallon (at least when I bought it) It's like playing with Play-Doh but you can charge for it. I'd carve from HDU maybe use the epoxy to add "warts" and stuff to the tree, and do the vulture that way. Love....Jill
  17. So.. This car

    I like that, Adrian.
  18. Best graphic I've ever seen.

What a noble profile. Congratulations! Love...Jill
  19. card layout

You can't read it. It's suffering from Xophobia and chronic fill syndrome. Meaning don't put a damn "x" in graphics in the tagline and laundry list, it's bad enough you've used it in your bizname. It doesn't need "Call" in front of the phone number. It doesn't need "Larry" and "Vicki", it's not...
  20. So.. This car

It's OK. But if you have to show bigger pix since we can't read it from the thumbnail, your message is obscure. It would have a lot more "oomph" if you did the 1-888-GRAPHICS in white, in a straight line not stacked, at the back above the tire. Love...Jill
