  1. JV3-160S Pump spewing cyan everywhere!

if you are running cmyk lm lc ss, (which it seem you are) and not currently running the ss channels, steal the pump line off the ss and hook it to the cap tube coming from your CY and you are back and running while waiting for parts (new tube). also, is it leaking from the pump, or from above...
  2. VJ 1204 Questions

does your cleaning cart have an empty space on it for an id chip. put an old chip that has some "room" on it and the printer will think there is the proper ink in the machine.
  3. Problem with mutoh falcon outdoor!!!

doesn't that printer have those brass damper tube ends. if not, the easiest thing to start is to do a damper swap. put the cyan damper on an adjacent head adapter and vice versa. that will tell you if you've got a vacuum or supply issue by elimination.
  4. Warning!!! Stupid question to follow

couple of obvious suggestions. always use cast (not extruded) acrylic for machining and fabricating of any sort. and it's always better to paint before cutting. the edge can have heat stress and the rapid solvent cooling can craze the edge. this is more common in extruded acrylic. and for...
  5. Error msg: HEAD-MEM:1/ Image MEM:128MB

in the process of turning it off, turn off the back, unplug the back, and press the front power button four times. that's the only way to discharge capacitors completely.
  6. It's only gonna get tougher

the other day, my 12 year old daughter asked if she could have a workstation. she's been designing nonoba pages (kind of a myspace for kids) for the past year. i wouldn't be surprised if half the competing designers are under 16 years old and of that also half in india or elsewhere...
  7. Mutoh falcon outdoor help

see if you are getting yellow coming through during a cleaning cycle. also, when drawing ink, is the damper membrane relaxed afterward or vacuumed inward?
  8. Monitor Upgrade

+1phototec dual samsung 23's 17" laptop to the immediate right for internet. there isn't a pc made yet that fast enough for massive graphics files. you can't afford the performance hits that viruses create over time.
  9. wrong button**ink switch

oh crap, i did that when i first got the printer, i had to do one side of the machine against my will. my suggestion is take off pump line. let the machine sqauk and beep and "think" it is throwing all your precious ink away. then when that side it finished. change it will ask you to do the...
  10. Mutoh 1604 - Banding Part Way Across - Any Help?

do all the lines to the heads look properly trimmed to the perfect length? did they look "more relaxed" in their new position? do the dampers sit perfectly upright without stress on them when installed? is the magenta line in any way kinked or making an odd curve back toward the damper? i'd...
  11. Who has shipped a printer before?

make sure you stress to the craters that the floor is strong. over the years that is one of the main things i've seen done wrong. a wheel will go through the floor and make the whole machine unstable.
  12. Funny thing going on in Photoshop. Help?

look up at the left hand corner of the file/window you are pasting into. does it say (Gray/8)? if you paste into this file, it will automatically convert you paste into grayscale. you have to convert the working file to rgb or cmyk, etc. image>mode>RGB color.
  13. mimaki jv3-160sp NO POWER

macmedia diagnoses slider boards for $40. and kent is very honest. i sent him a slider board and it came up fine. he can rebuild a slider board for $200! if that is the issue. as far as the burnt cable. that isn't good. i'd predict at least a fried head and maybe slider board. do you have...
  14. mimaki jv3-160sp NO POWER

thought i responded.... crashed at the computer from long hours. your printer is attempting to not fry itself by not turning on. as far as looking for a reason. turn it off, unplug it, and take off all the dampers. if there isn't visibly spilled ink on a head or slider board, it may have...
  15. mimaki jv3-160sp NO POWER

absolutely stop attempting to turn it on. unplug it immediately. you probably have some ink on your heads.
  16. Digital Sandblasting.

ha! wasn't that in some movie? being an artist usually results in attracting artsy girls. and you know what that means? they are usually (always) a hot mess. my best opening line should be "so, what kind of meds are you on?"
  17. Digital Sandblasting.

it's photoshop. i've had to practice doing embossed proposals for all the aluminum etching i do.
  18. Digital Sandblasting.

in reverse thanks.... also here's the debossed version, just invert your selection. instead choose in layer style outer bevel chisel hard depth 205% size 1px highlight 100% shadow mode 66%
  19. Digital Sandblasting.

maybe? just goofed around with it. get your file of wood grain. (this image is 2700x500ish) type what you want to emboss or use an image. make a selection of the words, cut and paste a wooden version of it from below (your wood file). then go to filters>stylize>emboss i chose 90degrees...
  20. JV33-160 suddenly shuts off yellow

can you get the issue to surface without printing so much (50x100)? seems if it was data related, it'd happen in between prints no matter what the size. i've never heard of a color dropping like this from starvation. sounds to be data related. to bad you can't do data ribbon swaps on that...
