We use both the 5500 & 5600 and have no issues on bubbles both wet and dry.

vertical or horizontal?
reds and grey scale are some of the hardest colors do to IMO.
For us the designer finally profiled his own red colors and that seemed to do the trick.
Im not sure what else he did, heat, speed, height, etc...

We are talking about banner material, one of the cheapest materials there is. I can think of several MM here that are cheaper to get the banner reprinted then attach it to a rigid substrate (acp, mdo, pvc, etc...)
