  1. Rally Stripes

You would call them. Do your other suppliers list the prices you pay online?
  2. Printer Cons and Pros: 54" vs. 64",74"

No, it would suck to wrap the side of a van one piece. Print wrap panels on 54" material, vertical panels. I have a GS6000 & I can print 60" wide when I need to (mostly for banners), but the majority of its use is on 54" material. A 4' banner with pole pockets at both ends requires 60" printing...
  3. Dog bite/scratch Font

All that we've ever done for K9 units is put warnings on the rear doors/windows of the dog being there, everything else on the unit is the same as the rest of the dept. Sometimes the K9 guys have their own local "K9 club/group" that they belong to, but none of that artwork goes on the cruisers.
  4. Noob with FX

They run for-frickin-ever. No idea on how to find out how much mine's been ran - but it's a lot.
  5. Dog bite/scratch Font

X2 on what Pat said, the first time. Ignore his subsequent posts, he must be drinking.
  6. Rally Stripes

There are companies that have these graphics ready to go, sometimes we use this company: http://www.restylerschoice.com/Products/CAD/cad_features.html Call them to see if they have what you need & save the hassle of re-creating the wheel.
  7. Looking for Year at a glance custom calendar

Design it & find a local print company to print it for you. When I worked at a (paper) printing company, we did them every year. Seems like a very simple request. Do a Google Maps search for local printing companies, go talk to them to request a (wholesale rate) quote for printing these for...
  8. Noob with FX

For your printing issues: Get some Gerber cleaning wipes & clean the printer. Next, are you using the correct settings for the vinyls/foils by selecting the correct materials through the software? Are your rolls of vinyl material dirty? You have to get double-sided mounting adhesive and...
  9. Print on clear

I cannot see why they would specifically request "unlaminated" vinyl for outdoor use. Did you price them unlaminated/laminated as options? Anything for outdoors should include lamination in its basic price point. Yes, a felt squeegee will get you the best results.
  10. Importing PDF problems

If it is a "press-ready" PDf file and he has created the PDF correctly, and then you are just placing it directly into the RIP to output on your end, then you should be fine with his PDF. If he is doing the artwork in his native graphics program on his computer with Mac OS with his mac font...
  11. Large propane tank - vinyl graphics

Use a torch to lay it down into that seam..... wait - bad idea. If it was me, I would try to locate the seam in-between letters to the best of my ability or just slice it out after installing; with letters that large and no potential customers walking up close to it, a 3/8" or so slice out...
  12. Alternative to Nature Woven Chorus Banner Material

I don't understand which product you're trying to match. The link goes to a field of planted crops for me.
  13. Pricing Trade Show Posters?

That sounds good to me, plus do not forget to charge for the substrate and your mounting time. (unless your printer is providing it to you mounted for $7/ft)
  14. new acrylics cracking wtf

We always clean everything with alcohol, never seen any ill effects. I would assume you're using the alcohol/water mixture to aid in drying (do that it evaporates faster. I couldn't see how after it evaporates that it causes it to crack. How thin of acrylic?
  15. Estimate on reflective vinyl

We go by all of the regs we can, but every customer wants their trucks to match the (crap) look they have on all of their other trucks. However, for the star on the roof, it is almost never reflective, as customers have specified that the reflective star or any lettering on the roof is...
  16. Looking for this style of clipart or very similar....

The LiveTrace function in Illustrator or a similar function should work for a "whimsical" piece like this. I guess that wouldn't be very "legal" though... Never seen it in any collection I have.
  17. Estimate on reflective vinyl

If it is going on the side of an ambulance then 680CR is what we use. (I have a 48" roll in stock) If it's going on the roof, then they just want 180c. The Oracal sucks bad compared to 680CR, after I started using 3M reflective I've never bought oracal reflective again. We can do it, just need a...
  18. Vinyl for a/c work van

Never seen a flat van... explain to them the difference between calendared and cast vinyls as far as longevity. They are paying to NOT have to remove and replace the graphics in 2 years with the additional cost. If they want to replace it in 2 years, IJ35C will work and apply well...
  19. Perplexed

    Arial Rounded Light? (or similar)
  20. Multiple copies of a PDF on one page?

Any RIP program that comes with your printer should be able to do this. Or, manually the easiest way I know is use InDesign & place the PDFs in there, shouldn't take 10 minutes.
