  2. Maintaining aspect ratio when resizing objects in Illustrator?

I'm semi-productive. I just think holding down the shift key to keep from distorting stuff is like having to hold the hang-up button on the phone down during a call.

  8. Maintaining aspect ratio when resizing objects in Illustrator?

I agree. How often do you want to screw up the proportions of a shape or font while re-sizing it? "Never" comes to mind. The default should be click and drag. Or at the very least... let me choose the default.
  9. Maintaining aspect ratio when resizing objects in Illustrator?

Kinda looking that way. Unfortunately, I have to use Illustrator more and more often because I am doing more printed work through a sub who needs Illustrator files.

  11. Maintaining aspect ratio when resizing objects in Illustrator?

Corel didn't get rid of it... It's an extra step in Corel to defeat the locked aspect ratio. You hold Alt and drag the shape to distort it. If you hold Shift it re-sizes around the objects centre... but constrained. This is how I would like to set up Illustrator.

Thanks Mike. Doesn't seem to make a difference though.
  13. Maintaining aspect ratio when resizing objects in Illustrator?

Thanks John but no Mac here.
  14. Maintaining aspect ratio when resizing objects in Illustrator?

I would rather set it so the shift key let me distort the object and just click and drag would leave the object the shape it is....if that makes any sense.
  15. Soften edges

Kinda. You can import simple Xara files into Corel. Corel can't do the feather effect so it stands to reason that it can't import it either. Illustrator fares about the same. Both those programs could benefit from some of the features of Xara. You can download a fully functional version and...

  19. Soften edges

Sorry Central... I got a bit off topic. That was done in Xara Designer 6. I was wishing Corel could do it.
