iSign - Your points are well taken. By no means do I want the appearance that I am trying to "kick 'in when he's down" nor sway public opinion. I do not even want to know all of the details, as none of the transactions had anything to do with us.
What upsets me is the comment about a "deal"...
Sometimes. The best people to answer that will be Yale. It is all about having enough clearance, but you machine appears to have lots - meaning it may have been meant tio swing both ways.
Overkill my ass! Even changing light bulbs will not be the same chore. The only thing I would have differently is purchased the pneumatic tires, but at $10k - you did good!
No more ladders..
No more scaffolds....
Todd -
I will not get into a religious argument, as there is no winning for either "side". Apparently I did not do a decent job of explaining the point I was trying to make.
Here are some of the facts that have been stated:
- Reported transactions between Matt and a few customers...
Prreetttttyyy!
Bob,
Once you get accustomed to having the truck around you will start to wonder why you did not get it sooner. It is money well invested, and the "back-saver" that you mentioned. Is that thing new, or is it one hell of a refurb?
Complacency always leads to failure. This is something that is very evident in the sign industry. It takes being burned to learn that there are no "friends" when it comes to money. Clear and concise contracts are a must in business - period.
Robert - With no intentions of starting anything...
Says who? As far as I can see, nothing is settled. The only thing that has occurred is that Unica and Matt C have come to an agreement/arrangement of sorts, all which are nobody's business.
Nevertheless, I will go out and be the black sheep (or even the ass****e) about what transpired. You...
Does the offset make any difference at all? Also, have you looked at your blade under a loupe? We had the same issue once and it was due to a slightly chipped/broken blade, that was not visible under the naked eye, but beyond what the offset adjustment could cure.
One Design Package/RIP that seems very seldom spoken of is SignLab and Digital Factory (their stand-alone RIP). Some things that we can say for certain, colors are on the money and never a crash. The list can go on and on, but the point is if any Flexi user watches for Cadlink's competitive...
Great news! The need to flash a systems bios seems to have become commonplace. Just curious, what are your memory timings set at? Nice about OC'ing today is that it is not as easy to cook a processor.
Jason - I have never put my hands on a SAS controller card to 100% positive BUT, from what I...
Chris,
There are some very interesting things happening at Nazdar. One thing that is very notable is that their inks seem to have the ability to dry/cure faster. This comes from a write-up that I read several months ago. Triangle is good but they are no longer the only game in town.
That is why I get grumpy when I find someone at my desk! "Move over, get out of my, get your own!! !LOL!
It is definitely a hunk of change, but, something can only be as strong as its weakest link. The computer is the most neglected piece of hardware in any small business. $6k is a small price...
No matter how you look at it, $6 is a good price. 15 years ago, out of frustration, my first SCSI machine cost $5k. Putting the dollar in perspective...that was a lot of dough. The way I see it that $6k for a super-powered workhorse machine, that will be in use for quite a few years, is as good...
If the machine is u320 with a RAID controller, that is a good price for that machine, and at 10k rpm it most likely is either u160 or u320, but not necessarily RAID.
You are right about a need for storage, but remember that is the key word. Two 36GB drive are more than sufficient for the...
That is understood, and the thought is appreciated, but very incorrect. The reason I know and understand SCSi is due to the fact that when I first started with SCSI the majority of techs had no understanding of SCSI.. A couple of old guys at Adaptec understood my dilemma and provided me with...
No I am not - I just know this area....an area that many would once avoid due to the fear of cost. SCSI is a four letter word to most people that work on home PC's - but is actually easier.
My machine ran for 5 years before IDE were able to catch up to its speed. On the other hand, there is a...
OC - You are essentially running a twin to mine EXCEPT we are running XP Pro 32-bit (what sign/printing software are you running on 64?), and that our video is using the later (newer, but overkill) chipset. You never mentioned the drive setup, but unless you were spending in the G's, you are...
FLD - You CAN get these high-end setups directly from Dell. They will be under their business machines (not home). If you call them and tell them that you want a SCSI (pronounced "scuzzi") machine, loaded with XP Pro (32-bit) with the max memory (4GB), they will configure a cost for you.
SAS is...
The PITA factor is one big reason not to build. I read about all the ASUS headaches for a couple weeks before I assembled it (even made a list) - si my build was much easier than the previous.
As for your SAS question, I am not that well versed on the newer controller cards. It seems that the...
