John,
Many printer manufacturers include "monitoring" software. Did you install yours? If so, you may want to try and remove it.
This has caused more grief than I care to remember.
Just a thought.
By the time you finish, you may still end up with an easy few hundred bucks in this machine unless you scrounge up some old parts. With your SignLab, you should be able to send all sorts of jobs to multiple machines via their spooler. The link below is for a Gigabyte that has 5 PCI, plus the...
Marc,
If you need PCI slots, try and look for server boards. Second, if you need to run 6 LPT cables, you would only need three LPT cards (as many are/were dual LPT). If you need PCI for anything else, you may want to look at upgrading those cards if they are available in a PCI-e...
If you are looking for as "cut by color option", you may want to look at SignLab OE from Ordway (http://www.signsupply.com/Software/SignLab/SignLab_OE/SignLab_OE7_Features.asp)
Looking at your profile you do not show any software from Cadlink or SAI. Seeing your other equipment listed, it may...
Yes.
The colors from these machines are some of the best that you can get. If memory serves correct, these are not Encads/Kodaks, but rather licensed units.
Check you file associations.
Open "My Computer"
Go to "tools"
Go to "file types"
scroll down until you see "BMP" and select. It should indicate say: opens with: "Corel PHOTO-PAINT" . If not, just click on change and select open with Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
Not really. It is when you get into a "habit" of one package that the curve gets really steep.
Absolutely true......but since being left hanging by some crazy CorelDraw quirks I would not want to rely on it.
Yep.
Even with all its quirks, everybody should still have Corel's graphic...
Corel is cheap enough that everybody should have it in their arsenal of software.
You will find that all the major design firms use the Abobe products. As a signmaker, you will get a lot of bang for the buck out of Corel - which is its biggest advantage.
As a CorelDraw user (since v.2) I can...
Bob-CAD is geared more towards the machining of parts than signs. They do have decent support, and are inexpensive as far as the CAD-CAM software...but still are not geared towards what you ultimately want to achieve.
Cadlink (ProfileLab), SAI (EnRoute), and Delcam (ArtCAM) have products that...
People that do not like Flexi or SignLab (or whatever) really just do not know how to use the software as it was intended and designed. If any or all of these packages were junk - they would be gone.
SignLab user here...with no interest in learning Flexi.
Here is a thought...
Some quick trial & error may be required. Sometimes when bouncing from one program maker to another, it is advised to use L*A*B colors. LAB colors to not usually get altered when moving. If I can remember, I always try to convert all colors to LAB, when I am finished. The...
What is your customer using for software? Most of the software packages already have the driver but it is usually listed as Newstar or Newstar Omega (the original name that DGI used).
Feel free to PM if you need any further help.
Pentax will give you lots of bang for the buck. Body is inexpensive for DSLR, and lenses are plentiful in the used market. We use the Sony/Minolta, which is great unit. Nikon is an excellent choice, but image stabilization is built in to the lens (not the body), making lenses quite expensive.
It may be a good idea to ask or show the customer a few samples of fonts. The mere reference to "Victorian" is very often misunderstood by many customers.
Just a thought.....
As iSign says, the ability to make your own beveled/prismatic fonts can be an extremely valuable tool - but the bigger question lies in "who is willing to pay for you to do it?".
There are far too many collections out there that most customers would be more than willing to jump on - making...
You are correct from that perspective, with the exception that they would not be carrying out their mission if there was not something big in it for them.
My problem is not with the global economy, but rather the "buy American" lies that these CEO's fed this country for almost three decades...
