If I remember correctly, these boards won't accept higher capacity RAM but I don't think that's the issue anyway. Write port errors are always network issues. Since it didn't work over cross over, I would guess the network chip on the main board is probably failing.
They probably used non-optically clear laminate. If you laminate with optically clear lam, you can see through perfectly. Also, without lam, water can build up in the little holes which causes visibility issues as well. I would never do perf on a car without lam but anything else is optional.
What you're looking for is called, "Drop Position Adjustment" or something along those lines. It's going to be in the Setup menu. It prints 8 patterns of 2 lines. You input the number of the line where the 2 lines overlap perfectly for each pattern.
I'm willing to bet you are a reasonable person and installed the software from the CD that came with the machine. The problem is that the CD version doesn't work! You need to download the latest version from Mimaki and install it that way. Here's the link to the download page.
It all depends on what colors you are printing in your files essentially. If your biggest customer has a red logo, you will probably go through magenta faster etc. In my years of selling ink I would say a typical shop uses magenta and yellow the most, cyan second and black last. YMMV of course.
Good advice from your dealer. There is nothing wrong with the new machine but I would describe it as a 1624X Plus rather than a new model. It uses the same head and everything. They just added some useful features.
Basically if you have used a Mutoh, Mimaki, or Roland solvent printer in the last 25 years, it's all Epson heads. In the last 5 or so years Ricoh and Panasonic have entered the game for these brands as well. There have been times where Epson would lock certain heads for certain machines and it's...
Fisheyes are almost always either contaminated material (dust, finger prints, etc.) or old/defective vinyl. That's what this looks like to me. Does it happen on any other materials? Heat could very well help as well as it's needed for the ink to bite into the vinyl properly.
You can print and cut to pretty much any make or model as long as you can print the required registration marks. If you get a Roland cutter, that will make much easier but it is doable with other brands. If you are using Versaworks and two Roland machines it should pretty much be seamless though.
If they are anything like the FC7000 machines in build quality, I have seen them last 10+ years with good care. Of course it depends highly on how much you use it.
That's the pinch roller sensor and it's installed on the back of the cut carriage. It measures the position of the rollers which is why you are getting that error. I'd contact Denco or Midwest for the part.
