  1. jv33 printhead not genuine

remember just unplugging your turning off/switching on back/unplugging.... is not the full protocol. after unplugging, you have to then press the front power button four times. it will light up as it discharges the capacitors on the boards. otherwise, you machine might as well be plugged in...
  2. Damper Trouble

keep that old capping station around and soak it in acetone/butyl cellosolve. it will be as good as new with a good soak. that way you can have a quick trade out when the new one starts acting up.
  3. Mutoh 1614 printer problems please help

you may have twisted the damper a bit when positioning it over the head adapter, this can loosen the fittings. tighten up the fittings, pre-rotating the damper to the direction that it will sit before plugging it into the head adapter. and never twist the damper to straighten when plugged...
  4. Damper Trouble

just running washes without monitoring your pumps is not the way to go, if you aren't having success. get a good look at the pump tubes during the washes. that will tell you if you've got vacuum doing any "washing". if the pump issue seems suspect, trade pump tubers with a better functioning...
  5. Critique time....

when i see it, the first thing i think of is a logo for a tv show. and something tells me that this girl is on some kind of the same wavelength... (maybe a little narcissistically). you aren't trying to sell yourself, but your work. designers make a lot of money, but mostly when they start...

this is a great tedtalk by hans rosling. http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/hans_rosling_asia_s_rise_how_and_when.html
  7. dead jv33

email anny at annyzheng@bonjet.cn and ask her what the difference is.
  8. dead jv33

if you go with the same tech, tell him to bring a proxy head for further diagnosis. if you don't use them, you'll need to acquire a proxy head (most repair tech/print suppliers have them laying around). i once bought a proxy dx4 head from a tech for $100 and it cleared up after a soak! ...or...
  9. dead jv33

you obviously need a new main board... but i wouldn't plug that sucker in until finding that short. perhaps, the board might leave clues to what fried it? have the tech photograph some high res pics of what smoked. that dx5 head, i've seen for $500ish. makes me jealous, using four dx4's...
  10. Damper Trouble

if you are losing both color simultaneously it is the not fault of the damper. unless you removed CY and then plugged them both back improperly. are your caps showing the normal half and half latent ink from the cycles, are they looking dry, or are they filling up with ink and not draining?
  11. Error 30 when pressing the Test button

i just got one, and my last white ink cartridge is showing expired... you can turn the machine off from the front, then switch off on the back, then unplug, then press the front button four times slowly (the front green button will light up a few times). this will clear all latent charges...

i think the replies should be a bit more respectful. studies show that within 30 years india will be as prosperous as the U.S., while in the same frame of time GDP of the U.S. will probably go down slightly or remain at it's current plateau. this guy might be struggling in a competitive...
  13. Where can i find cheap JV3 heads

ebon in china, $550 each. but shipping it high. you'd want to get a whole box of stuff, not just a single head to make it worth it. solventinkonline is my favorite for quick shipping and good pricing. and there is something reassuring about working on your own machine, just like working on...
  14. Switching Mimaki from Firewire to Parallel in RasterLink - Please Help

i never could figure out how to make the parallel work either. there's a great deal of discussion about firewire cards and their fragility and finickiness on jv3's on the jv3 yahoo message board.
  15. Help...Roland SP-540V won't print any yellow or magenta

@nsgraphics is right about the vacuum supply being suspect. just as you can do data swaps, and damper swaps to diagnose, you can do a pump tube swap as well. trade lines at the pumps and have your black cyan pump line hooked up to your magenta yellow and vice versa. do a head clean and...
  16. Help...Roland SP-540V won't print any yellow or magenta

data swap keep in mind that this diagram is for a jv3 160sp. if you are at all confused about transposing this diagnostic tool to a different slider board, ask around first. it's not difficult, obviously, but should be done properly. (this diagram is for a machine with four dx4 heads.)...
  17. dead jv33

you could send the board to mac media for a repair? don't know if the machine is under warranty....
  18. Help...Roland SP-540V won't print any yellow or magenta

did you do a data ribbon swap with the working head? only do this if you know how to keep the ribbons in proper (non frying order). if you do it correctly, which is simple, the printer is none the wiser. and it will prove if your head is dead or your slider board is dead, or neither.
  19. Help!! Mimaki White ink line clogged

well, i'm an artist, so my varnish might not do the trick for what you are doing. i print it over some pieces that are matte and then blast it with a uv hand wand. it has a slight ink melting characteristic to it. so artistically cool, but maybe not for press. the clear is nothing but...
  20. Roland new launch VS640 !!!

yeah, if there's some sample, it'd be nice just to have a nice photograph of how it looks.
