  1. new acrylics cracking wtf

Same. Acrylic is brittle stuff. Don't take much to split it.
  2. t-shirt printing with laser printer

To answer OP's question, no you don't. We have used an old Xerox 1250 and the magic touch transfer papers work well enough on white shirts. There are other papers that are better. It's been a while but from memory on the Magic Touch stuff clear areas yellowed slightly quite soon. The process is...
  3. Paper for mounting pattern on HP L25500

Uncoated paper works great in our latex. Much better than the old HP5500 we used to have. We've run bond paper and a 170gm silk. Both print fine. We created profiles for each although for patterns this won't be an issue. The cheaper stocks are perfect for cheap short term posters.
  4. Help With Onyx Postershop RIP Queue

What printer, plotter? You should be able to set margin widths in your printer.
  5. Spectrophotometer and profile building

Onyx 10.2 and XRite DTP41. Works great for us.
  6. Tutorial for icc profile creation

Restricting ink by chroma is the way to start every profile. http://www.signs101.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-66337.html
  7. Spelling and grammar

I think it's lazy and disrespectful to communicate with sloppy grammar and spelling, but in the end it doesn't really matter on a forum. If it really bothers me I just skip to the next post. Especially if it's a request for help.
  8. Plotter/Sign Cutting Software help needed Sydney, Australia

Is that a serial to usb converter? If so look in device manager and make sure it's showing up there as a Com port. You may have to find and install the right driver.
  9. Australian Suppliers?

Personally I'd just call my tech and let him do it. If you're determined to do this yourself why not source parts online from overseas? I service my motorbikes myself and buy nearly all parts for them from the States.
  10. Location, location, location?

What are all you nay sayers doing selling signs if you don't believe they work? I moved from an invisible location to a high visibility shopfront 5 years ago. It seems business owners driving past every day do think of you when they need advertising material. Of course you get time wasters...
  11. Onyx 10.2 and epson 4800

You can turn it off for each job in Rip Queue by right clicking the file and editing printer settings > Auto cut - off. To cancel it on all future jobs go into Media Manager and turn it off in Media Options.
  12. Font Manager

NexusFont. Works great in Windows 7 and it's freeware.
  13. How do I tell Onyx to use less ink?

Ink restrictions and limits are done before building icc profiles, so any adjustments you make there will affect colour accuracy. Best bet is to try and find a better profile. If that's not possible you can go into Media Manager, select the media linearization and scale each colour by the same...
  14. You at your workstation.

    Hard at work, as usual.
  15. XP?

My old Xerox laser printer won't work in 7 so we run it in an XP Virtual PC.
  16. light streak every 40"/ cleaning cycle

Yep. Turn off auto cleans and just do a test print and clean whenever you think it's necessary.
  17. Help with turning of automatic weed boxes in ONYX

In the "marks" tab of job properties, Deselect > Contour Cut Paths: Generate Tile Outline Cut Paths. If it's coming up on all jobs you probably have it selected in one of your Quick Sets.
  18. Onyx 10.2 and epson 4800

Check out the black in your source files first. That sample image has four colour blacks whereas your vector blacks are probably only K100. Also check your profile rendering intents in Onyx. I use Relative Colorimetric and make sure Use Black Point Compensation is selected. This feature has...
  19. Reducing Ink Levels in Flexi --HPL25500...Help!!

I don't know Flexi but try increasing the number of passes. That should give the ink more time to dry in the curing area.
