  1. Career choice stress

I would say to get a real job. Or get one with a huge large-format sign shop which offers benefits, if such a thing exists. If you really love making signs, do it in your spare time while bringing in a steady paycheck. Or learn web design and still do that on the side. The way things have...
  2. Can you relate to this?

Love it. :) Kinda hate it at the same time. Love....Jill
  3. Logo critique

I just can't with that Z so I tried something different yet equally cheezy.
  4. Logo critique

In all honesty, it's a very weak looking logo. It just looks like typed text with a gradient and an arrow, and a stretched script. It has nothing to ground it and make it look strong. The font you used for the name is really weak looking. I don't like the upper/lower case and I don't care for...
  5. Fax Line

I never had a fax line, just a phone which accepted faxes. It finally died about a year ago and I don't miss it. I only ever got a fax from one client towards the end, everyone else send pdfs via email (some with usable files even) I got a lot of SPAM faxes though. Love....Jill
  6. The Ball was dropped........by me!

I thought your kid was real talented. You should have hired him to do the job. :) (I'm kidding) I had something real similar happen to me this past weekend (shipping delay caused by Thanksgiving) ended up having to work two jobs in one day but I did get everything done with minimal pain to the...
  7. Why so much hate??

    Why is it still here?
  8. Thanks Fred

Thanks, Fred. You're the best. xoxoxo Love....Jill
  9. New Logo,

All are extremely hard to read via the thumbnails, which to me is an accurate way to judge a design. All rely heavily on weird fonts that don't go together. There is little contrast in 99% of them. All look to be trying too hard to be cool, the visual equivalent of wearing an Ed Hardy t-shirt...
  10. Fun with paint!

It's based on retro clip art but I freehanded 'em.
  11. Need Lettering Enamel Paint for Sign, Know any vendors?

Wensco, N Glantz, Pioneer Supply. Go for the Ronan. Love...Jill
  12. Pinstriping or lettering first?

There are tons of young up and coming pinstripers in Ohio. I hang out with a few of them at the World of Wheels show at the end of January (in Pittsburgh) You do have to be able to stripe to get in though so you better start practicing. Both lettering and striping will teach you brush control...
  13. Making Flat Signage Interesting.

That's a really attractive treatment. I prefer it over dimensional signs. Love....Jill
  14. Removing Hardened One Shot?

Easy Off removal is tricky, as you are learning. Have you tried taking it to a wishy-washy carwash and having at it with the wand and hot water? I would leave it up to the owners to get the vans cleaned, personally. Some jobs simply aren't worth it. Then of course you can re-letter them...
  15. your holiday decorations

Those are all cool. Almost, almost makes me feel like desorating. All I have is a 15 year old painted traditional St. Nick, though. Love....Jill
  16. Fun with Vectorization

That has way more issues than just a wonky Jesus and mutant sheep. :) Love....Jill
  17. Fun with paint!

Better bundle up, Randy. Brian, they are painted on the outside. But I could paint on the inside, too, that's how I got started back in high school.
  18. Cutline

I select the whole thing, copy it. Paste it, move it to another spot on the page. Select it. Weld it. That way I still have my original stuff if I screw up. This eliminates all the details and gives you the basic shape of the design. If there are a lot of nodes (rarely) it won't let me weld too...
  19. Graphtec Position X Alarm

I think it's only roll 1. Sheet is the fun one that rolls out the whole frigging roll. I try to avoid that setting. I think roll 2 loads and stays wherever it was when you hit "enter". Roll 1 scrolls to the front end of the roll of vinyl. Love....Jill
  20. Fun with paint!

It should be OK for at least 3-5 years. They are lettering enamel over a primer base. My Mars windows still look like new. I love jobs like these it's just tricky doing them in the cold weather. Thanks for the nice comments.
