Running MDO isn't an issue (haven't touched the stuff in years!!) or mounting to boards much at all for that matter. It's the lamination that I need done.. looks like I'll be picking up one this week. Wish me luck. I'll keep posting as I run into and hopefully over the gremlins involved here...
Read "BUDGET" from above. I'm broke. Need a laminator. Can't spend more than $3, would like to spend less. Might run a full roll.... IN A MONTH. So cost is the real issue...
Guess I gotta learn the tricks.... I can't put another $200-$300 into more lease payments, but I can shoehorn $2k outta my credit cards. Where did you buy your Daige? I'd be going with the 4 most likely....
... ok. That's the biggest problem spot, isn't it. The rollers having flat or bad...
so, the word on the Daige at the end of the Dai seems to be positive.... it's just no-frills. how about silvering? does anyone know what that is caused by? And by the sound of things, as long as the Daige comes with all the machined and formed edges nice and even&square, I shouldn't have any...
Any problems with "silvering"? I had heard that heat assist deals with this but the CODA is cold-only, right? Looks like a helluva machine, but $6,800? Wow. The Royal's only $5100 (cold-only) and that's supposed to be a really good laminator. My guess is that the CODA's automatic features...
Hmm. I have to say there aren't any used Daige models on Ebay... usually a good sign. GRS here in Jersey told me $5100 for a Royal Sov 1400... I need one but I need to be able to pay my bills as well..... still on the fence, here. I checked SignSupply and only found Royal or the "house" brand...

Not to knock it (reference my "short temper" condition, but I can't seem to reliably mount big prints on substrate let alone perfect laminations. I am not that talented, where I can see it's not impossible, I need machine assistance and PERFECT results... I'm buying one to move my Jetski wrap...
I can't find any suppliers named "Sign Works"... where were they located? All I can find online for the AppliKator is a brochure from the manuf. and Sign Technologies selling one from Austrailia. Think the cost diff would get eaten with that kinda shipping! AAARGH. I can't find anyone in the US...
That's my quandary. I would be using it MOSTLY for laminating rather than mounting..... so far that's 1 vote against.
I'm in Jersey and although I'm busy, it's how it is EVERYWHERE that W. has had a hand in shaping the economy. We got a LONG road to travel to dig ourselves out. IF we can...
I've read pros and cons, and I really don't want to step into another $6-8K worth of machinery right now if I can get away with $2k. Let me start by saying I have a short temper for malfunctioning machines, but a small bottom line at the moment as well. I would be laminating 8'x48" prints, maybe...
I just found a laminator online, the guy won't ship but that's not a problem for me. It's in Ocoee, FLA and I'm in Jersey, so getting the time to go down there just to check it out is NOT an option. It seems like a good item, but if anyone is in the area and willing to check it out for me I...
Saw one for sale, I need a laminator but I'm clueless as to what to buy. Have heard the nightmares about Daige and their tunneling and other issues unless you're 100% on top of the machine at all times. My temper's too short, and I believe in you get what you pay for, so I'm looking elsewhere...
My first dimensional sign of any sort. Fun to make, detailed but very enjoyable. 2 4'x10' sheets of alumalite, overlaid with printed and brush-laminated vinyl, then cut to letter shape. Used PVC couplers to space the letters, epoxy to attach them to the sign face then thru bolted the setup in 14...
Jetski "wrap" using 3m Controltac, printed on a Mutoh 1204 VJ Eco-Sol printer. Applied in a dirty garage and bound for glory. Ski owned by Chad (?), sponsored by 24-7 Innovations, Full Throttle Powersports and Stuck Up Sticker Company. Sick freestyle rider.
