  1. Cool Water Sign

I'm actually really surprised they didn't use lighting to make the effect more dramatic. It's really stunning as is though and I can't imagine it would be that difficult to build one. The concept behind it is simple with today's technology. I'm betting we'll see more things like this in the...
  2. Logo Design - Starting in B/W

I like 1 and 2 the most but I prefer the look of white on black in the first one.
  3. Starting with a black and white logo

Not to change the subject but I always thought the apple had everything to do with computers...from an educational standpoint. Considering Apple was the standard computer in most schools until the Pc era started around 1990, I've always seen the logo as a representation of that. Matter of...
  4. Font Help Please

Did you only need the one letter? Seems it would have been easier just to retrace it than to identify the entire font that it's from.
  5. should I come back after lunch?

Or steal their filing cabinet, right? C'mon...you know you would do it! Hahaha!
  6. Custom Size Boards

If your shop has a table saw you can cut aluminum panels easily with that alone. You should be able to locate non-ferrous metal blades fairly easy for this, although even a fine tooth carbide blade will work fine. You just have to feed the aluminum slowly and although it's noisy, it works very...
  7. Four color t-shirt design

I made another final change to the design and the customer approved it. I will post the actual t-shirt as soon as we get their order and print them. I would have commented sooner but I've been very busy. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I'll try to post as much as I can. I'm...
  8. Refreshing old logos

Option 1 gets my vote. I really like it a lot.
  9. Looking for a vendor for CNC routed acrylic

Thank you for the head's up. My Google search turned up lots of leads, just not any that do custom cutting. After an hour of searching and turning up a lot of dead ends, this forum seemed to be a better option than Google, and I was right. I already have over half a dozen solid leads. I'm...
  10. Looking for a vendor for CNC routed acrylic

Thanks for all the prompt replies. I also received quite a few leads through email. Now I just have to talk to the customer a little more about it and see where they stand. The lighted sign right now has two white faces with 1/8" acrylic lettering applied to it. The panels are 36" x 72", so...
  11. Looking for a vendor for CNC routed acrylic

I'm looking for someone who can do custom CNC routed acrylic letters. However, after much searching online I've come to the conclusion that most companies only work with their own fonts and/or templates. I need someone who can take a vector image of the lettering I need and reproduce it. Any...
  12. Application Tape Application

Is the surface you are applying transfer tape onto your graphics over perfectly flat? That will always cause problems. Even if your work surface is just a tad bowed or cupped it can wreak havoc on anything you try to laminate. Just a thought.
  13. Favorite movies?

Ferris Bueller's Day Off The Breakfast Club Super Troopers Half Baked A Bronx Tale Scarface The Green Mile My Name Is Khan The Shawshank Redemption Casino Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2 The Matrix Pretty much about anything with Clint Eastwood in it. Bloodsport Exit Wounds Full Metal...
  14. Fond ID Please

    It's called Lesser Concern.
  15. New Logo For Customer

The key word here is "Reference" and unless your name is Bern Hogarth or Frank Frazetta, chances are you should never work without it. Using no reference material at all is ignorant and I think any real artist would agree with that. Most artists I know use photographic as well as art and...
  16. Has anybody used PostCoats?

I'll tell you another reason that I personally wouldn't use spray cans on a sign post outdoors and that's liability. You never know where that over-spray is going to travel. We use Rustoleum professional series oil enamels for any outdoor painted wood surface and a roller. Seems like the only...
  17. Signs365.com

We got a call today from Signs365. I was really impressed that they followed up with us shortly after we got our account with them. They seem very eager to please us and I definitely like that. They are family owned and operated and fairly local. And from the way our conversation went I feel...
  18. Four color t-shirt design

So I redid the layout and simplified it considerably. I changed the lettering up top and went a totally different direction with it. No bells and whistles, just simple and readable. I would like to add "Auto Sales, Service, and Auto Body Repair" and the location and phone to the graphic but...
  19. Four color t-shirt design

Hey! I figured out the multiple quote thing! Sorry for the multiple replies. I'll try to not do that again. Thanks for the advice on the lettering effect. Maybe I should just go simple on all the lettering and keep it more readable. I wil also be sure to check the links for some good...
  20. Four color t-shirt design

Uftring Automotive is the name of the company. It's a local business that has been in business for over 25 years that I know of. They do automotive repair and sales and auto body repair. I don't suppose it would hurt if I included something about that. The shirts are for employees, not for...
