Well I cant argue with you all however... When I heard from the guy 2 weeks ago and he told me this he also told me that the job was shipping out the next day. that was nothing but a lie so I have to be honest I don't believe a damn thing he told me.

We do $4 per sq ft for wholesale work for other printers but for the general public we try and stay around the $8-$10 range.
Have him check and make sure that the competitions price includes hems and grommets and make sure they don't have any surprise "set up" fees or anything.

Lets start off with this simple question.
Are you selling that many novelty signs that you can justify buying a printer?
I'm not saying that you're not, just make sure that you are bringing in enough to cover the costs involved with a printer.
Have you tried saving the file as an eps or a pdf and then importing it? I have problems sometimes when I use .ai files also but saving them as eps or pdf usually does the trick.
When you take pictures of the shirts make sure there is no glare. Customers tend to shy away if it looks like a thick vinyl transfer on the shirt. I think it reminds them of the 70's and 80's.
