Check which drivers you have, and what is set for default, then shut everything down. Unplug your plotter, wait 15 seconds, and plug it back in. Power up your plotter, then your PC. Then see what happens.

Uh..... I can combine text (converted to curves of course) and add a contour. Just did it to make sure. The only time I have ever gotten that message was if I am trying to make a contour to the INSIDE. The cause could be that you have some stray node throwing everything off or your contour...

Even I don't just fill up my memory chip and post it. I know a lot of guys who do though. I delete an average of about 1 out of 10 shots before I even download them onto the computer. I do magazine work a lot and they demand the best you've got, so why even download the cruddy ones? JMO

I have 8, 10 and X3. Honestly, my favorite is 8. I just LOVE that program! It was my first sign making program, and I still love it. X3 is more powerful though. Just a few annoying features. If I was looking for one to buy, I'd just buy X3. The rest are already becomming outdated, so why buy...

Forget the machine that does both engraving and contour cutting. The engraving thing is probably just a diamond tipped pen and it doesn't do all THAT great of a job engraving. If you want to do engraving, buy an engraver. If you wanted to cut vinyl, buy a plotter. And careful of any BS you may...

I would only do it if you HAVE to. Looks much better in one piece, and you shouldn't be having problems with cutting 8'. I just cut 24' today no problem with my Graphtec (okay....so I screwed up the first try. The SECOND try went no problem. lol.).

You need to make sure that the vinyl is fed into the machine PERFECTLY straight. You should have some sight lines where the vinyl comes out at. Line up the edge with two of the lines (one on top and one of on bottom) or if you have a square edge cut on the vinyl, line that up with some defining...
