  1. Looking for waterborne, non-latex, exterior grade, glossy paints

Waterborne auto paints still use a solvent base low VOC clear. So they're only 50% environmentally friendly.

  6. Roland adding printer vs risks

Stick with the laser engraving. BIL's brother owns a laser engraving company out in the "pickers" of the north woods. They added a third Epilog early this year and are looking at adding a fourth unit to keep up. With only two lasers they were grossing $400K a year.
  7. 4 x 6 Real Estate Post and Panel sign price

20 years ago I'd get $350 for a basic 4' x 8' installed on site.(painted panel with cut vinyl) Trip charge not included. Never did too many since a local guy has had the market locked up for decades.
  8. Old metal sign restoration: method, materials, how much to charge

If it were me I'd take it down and get rid of any loose paint. If there are just small chips missing I wouldn't fix them. Major chunks I'd touch up. Then I'd clean it with wax and grease remover a couple times before spraying with matte finish automotive clear. Inexpensive and keeps the...
  9. Illustrator help

I know you said online but... Find out what your local community college has to offer. Nothing like having structure, deadlines and actually having to submit completed work for a grade. Online courses, unless through a college, have none of that. College courses will also build a solid...

  12. Anyone ever build scale models?

Design scale components in AutoCad or similar program. Laser cut pieces, glue pieces together then paint. Make frame for model and cover with clear acrylic. That is how our college has students complete the model building project.
  13. Mesh Banner or Blockout Banner

My sub can print double sided mesh. I didn't think about sewing two banners together. If I don't use mesh I could produce that in house.
  14. Mesh Banner or Blockout Banner

I have a banner job to be suspended between two existing sign poles. Banner is to be 36" x 120" double sided. Worse case wind load here is figured at 30lbs per. sq. ft. (900lbs loading) Existing poles are massive. Banner will have 2" wide nylon webbing welded into the hem with tails for...
  15. Stripping paint off fire damaged HDU carved sign

I'd tell them no guarantees that I could salvage it then hit it with a pressure washer. If that makes it look a lot better I'd get after it with one if these: http://ndsander.com/900-series/ From the photos it doesn't look too bad. Just scorched.
  16. Installation of composite aluminium panels on exterior walls

I tend to use screws suitable for the application then cover screw heads with these caps. http://www.pro-dec.com/screw-caps-screw-covers/snap-caps-hinged-screw-covers
  17. Wall covering for cafe above counter

UV flat bed print on second surface, done. I sub mine out and they always look fantastic.
  18. Help on pricing !

Lets start with: Are you licensed, bonded and insured for this type of work? Ditto what Marlene said plus you'll need an engineer to do a site survey and spec out the footing for the pole. Then you'll have to pull permits $$$$$. So many important details.
  19. What Are You/Did You Buy On Sale Black Friday?

Waited for all the crazies to go home(after 6p.m.) then walked into Wally World and grabbed a HiSense 55" 4K for $448. Not many people in the store at all. I was shocked by how many TV's were left. Most models stacked in the aisles like cord wood. Looks like they ain't such a big thing...
  20. Wall covering for cafe above counter

Second surface direct print on 0.030" or thicker styrene. Should last longer than they'll stay in business LOL. The matte finish I get from my sub is awesome.
