It actually looks more like an "@" symbol...
  2. Let me have it both barrels please

This has been my concern throughout this entire thread. The focus of all of Addie's ideas (and therefore the more professional derivative ideas) has been on "American". That's the wrong focal point...
  3. Helmet wraps

There are no templates that I am aware of. Helmet wraps are a B!TCH. In order to make them profitable you must a) develop a process that works, and works quickly or b) charge way more than anyone in their right mind would pay for 3sf of vinyl. I'd use IJ380C, but i stay away from helmets at...

    1. it didn't take me long. 2. Those companies have MILLIONS OF DOLLARS that are spent solely on advertising and branding. They can afford to have abstract shapes, subliminal copy because they are getting millions of impressions/day based on their business model.....You aren't. You are likely...
  5. New name, logo.....opinions, kicks in teeth requsted.

I guess a lot of this goes back to some of the most basic parts of logo design. What you like means exactly JACK SH!T. That's a fact. I'd encourage you to show that icon piece and joined text to 100 strangers who have no idea who you are and what you do, and then ask them to give a guess as to...
  6. New name, logo.....opinions, kicks in teeth requsted.

The color version is worse than the black and white. You've got so many fills and gradients happening that it is all just lost. The idea of the swirly arrow thing being a stylized "C" is only seen by you - I can promise no one else will see it. For a small business, the icon needs to be related...
  7. Buy local?

There are two issues at play in these situations. 1. Cost. Political campaigns are 100% cost driven buyers. I do very, VERY few political signs because they can, quite literally, get the same signs for 6-8x cheaper online, or 2-3x cheaper from my local competition. 2. Like most politicians...
  8. Rubber (?) rivets?

They are plastic. I would not recommend using P94 on them. If you don't own one already, go buy a Rolle Pro and practice. Otherwise, with the large flat surface on the tops of these, simply wrap over themand then come back with heat and a pop-pen and work them down.
  9. Police Car pricing

    Ladies and Gentleman...... MOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Let me have it both barrels please

False. Your layout is 100% dependent upon the shape of your panel. If you have a rectangular layout and then shape the panel, your layout will then lose it's negative space. You are working backwards and showing your (admitted) ignorance of design principles. Let's re-cap: 1. Fonts...
  11. Let me have it both barrels please

I guess I should also ask if the guy has any type of logo currently? If not, you should be selling him on THAT. Once that branding is established, THEN you can work on a sign design.
  12. Let me have it both barrels please

When using more decorative fonts like you are going with, a darker background tends to do the opposite of "make them pop". You are still hung up on the unshaped panel with no dimensional aspects at all (which makes no sense to me). Get rid of the dark background if you want to use those fonts...
  13. New name, logo.....opinions, kicks in teeth requsted.

Really dont' like either. The font choice is fine, but the way it is being used isn't. Of the two, the top concept is better, but neither one conveys that you are a sign shop. The use of the grungy "X" element in the bottom is TOTALLY OVERDONE. Unless, of course, your biggest market is...
  14. Architects should start out as signguys...

No offense, but if that is actually the real art, it seems like it would take about 10 minutes to recreate your vector version in Illy...
  15. Graphtec FC8000 purchase? perf cut

Easiest fix for the Graphtec not reading reflective, or getting wonky is to put a piece of matte scotch tape over the printed reg mark. Works every time.
  16. Grammar question

Personally, I'd not neither. I'd use "Servicing all of your electrical needs". I believe either of your options is technically correct. If I was in the south, i'd leave out the "of". In the north, i'd use it.
  17. IJ380 versus IJ180...

I use 380 on Sprinters. That's it. You are going to have to seam your bike no matter what (especially if you are screwing with the tank). No need to spend the $$ for 380 in that situation. On Sprinters though? HELL YES.
