  2. Newbie with several questions

As a merchant here I try to steer away from rocking the boat. KPC, it appears you have spent quite a bit of time defending your position, right or wrong. But not once did you acknowledge my 2-3 posts which I think answered your question. Nor did you say if my or the other earlier posts were...
  3. Font Help Please

Wild guess, but none of the letters are terribly unique. I'm guessing Trebuchet
  4. Macs/Windows/Gerber Omega?

Keep one thing in mind too. Macs do not have parallel or serial ports - if that matters. Your equipment must be either usb or firewire - and firewire is mostly limited to video cameras and hard drives.
  5. Newbie with several questions

This sample shows the jpeg in the background (as a template) made lighter to make it easier to trace. The thin black lines are my vector paths so that this person can cut this out of vinyl or output at any size without a loss in quality.
  6. Newbie with several questions

Am I wasting my time on this thread? This seems to have strayed. Guess I should have read all the threads, thought I was being helpful. One last sample, maybe it will help another newbie.
  7. Newbie with several questions

BTW, my contour is just a sample to show you what a complex one would look like on screen and of course the file that I provided the customerwas a vector contour. They then used whatever sign software on hand and combined their jpeg file with my vector ai/eps file. It printed first and then was...

You will need to use your Corel software to draw around the jpg using the pen tool and precisely place points around the image that you would want the cutter to follow. Think of it as the dot to dots you played as a kid where after you were done you had an drawing - crude but similar in fashion...

Looks like Monika from SignDNA - bolded(outlined) a bit
  10. 1 new Free font each month

A little FYI. The fontshop is great place to buy fonts. Approximately 1x per month they give away a free font. This month is a nice sans font that is part of a larger family. The fonts they give away are very good and professionaly done, not the junk you so often find at free sites...
  11. LCD Monitor

Fred, I cannot say for sure on Windows machines, but on the mac there is a function for font smoothing one of which is called "medium - best for flat panel". I wonder if there isn't something similar on PC's and their display properties that would adjust fonts for your display now that you have...
  12. DVD Burner for Macintosh?

From what I have read, you can hook up usb2 peripherals to usb1 ports, but they will only run at the slower speed. You won't see the speed gains of usb2.
  13. LCD Monitor

Fred, I have that exact monitor hooked up as a 2nd monitor for my Mac laptop. It hooks up via a dvi connection and I must say that the image is very good. I also have it hooked up to an old Blue and White G3 Mac via the 2nd port in the back which is vga. The DVI image is better, IMO I did...

  18. Photos of cars

you would have to knock out the backgrounds. I don't think they release the images you see car dealers use in their ads to the general public. They are probably copyright and intended for marketing/newspaper/dealerships only.
