  1. Looking for...a better Substrate cutter

The Milwaukee does look like a Safety Speed Cut alright. On that narrow a saw you would need the extension kit- and I would recommend the mid- fence. I never use my knife adapter and would sell it if someone wants it- it is *really* heavy tho. Gene
  2. Looking for...a better Substrate cutter

Chris- if you are serious about this, bite the bullet and get a panel saw. I agree with isign- you will not regret it. I have a Safety Speed Cut as well- it will cut 6' tall- also a nice feature. My vacuum system catches the fine particles that would float around (to your printer) and the...
  3. software decision....

    FlexiPro 7.6v2 will open a Omega 1.56 plt file- not O 2.5- not sure about F 8.0.
  4. What gets you to the shop and back?

Summer only! Winter is the Riv in the background. Z28 in the back is my daughters. The Pup is the shop truck- took the graphics off 3 years ago- haven't gotten anything back on.:thumb:
  5. Script Fonts for us dummies

I loved a couple of Arthur Vanson's fonts- but they are sold thru Letterhead and they only offer Open type fonts now- will not work on my Win 98 machines where I do most of my designing. :<( Gene
  6. What laminator???

"because the tape doesn't stick to the liner too well (it shouldn't, right?)" Hi Jimmy- try using 2" clear packaging tape (I use 3M)- as our UK friends would say- " it works a treat"- which I take to mean very well. Gene:biggrin:
  7. Typograph vs. Extensis Suitcase- Fred?

I do not have either of these- it looks like there is some overlap? It seems that I have heard you say that you keep your fonts on a server- is this to sync the fonts on several 'puters / programs? I have been using Font Reserve on each computer and it is getting to be too much for an old...
  8. 'Dot Gain' graphics?

Sorry- I check in once a day at least but I missed that somehow. Thanks
  9. 'Dot Gain' graphics?

I would love it if someone could tell me how this sort of thing is done. I have Adobe Ill, Photoshop, FlexiPro 7.6, Omega 2.5 and a couple that I do not use ( Corel and Sign Lab 6.1) If you would like to be more specific. Thanks Gene PS- I am not stealing the image from i-stock (the...
  10. How much does your shop make?

I like Doug's idea (sorry- isign)- Gross in the door / how many employees as being an indicator of efficiency. I try to track the numbers every which way but this seems a good indicator of performance. Gene
  11. Do You Accept Credit Cards?

I have been researching CC Processing and have decided on Costco. Retail Merchants 1.64% Plus 20¢ per card-swiped transaction Mail/Telephone Order Merchants 1.99% Plus 27¢ per transaction Program Features Accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, debit cards and...
  12. Has anyone tried the Rugen training tapes?

I have been trying to learn Flexi 7.6 and it is coming along. This is a very complicated program and the manual does not touch on anything in any depth. I have taken classes from Mark a few years ago but they always seem to get bogged down with very simple questions or someone who is...
  13. best computer setup

The 3 Gig ram limit on XPpro has been my experience as well- we tried 4 gig but the puter only saw 3 gig of it. I often have PS and AI and Flexipro 7.6 and Wasatch soft rip open on this machine (older 3.2g P4) and design and rip and anything else that needs doing at the same time. This...
  14. Panel Saws

Doug- they are working on a folding version that I expect to be superior to their current model. I will be the beta tester- so I have been on them to getter' done. I would wait for that. Gene
  15. Panel Saws

SSC rules- they are 2 miles down the road and bring their new hires down here to see a saw in the real world. I have an H6 (6' tall) and the only thing that I have changed is the spring counterbalance- I was not fond of, I changed it to a pulley/counterweight (don't know how they come now)...
  16. Foil - Patch Problems ? ? ?

This is a known problem and a lot of people use the same fix. You might try registering at 4edgetalk.com and doing a search. They are suffering the same website invasions as this forum- so it may take a day to register- but it will be worthwhile. Gene
  17. Valuejet

Please let us know your experiences with it. thanks Gene

  19. Can a Gerber Edge print on Oracal 851 Silver Metallic

We printed over 50yards of silver metallic Gerber 220 vinyl and laminated it for this trailer: http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9853&highlight=longish It was printed on a 300V and I thought the coverage was *very* good. Now that I think of it you are probably using Roland...
