  1. vinyl, laminate, outgassing and alligator bubbles

Its the home brew "application fluid". Never ever use Dawn dish soap for anything except doing dishes. If the rep told the OP to do this he needs to stop. Buy the proper materials/chemicals for the job. My experience with Dawn soap. Years back I did race trailer graphics for a friend. Ran...

  6. Thick Stencil

Find a local shop with an industrial laser. Sheet metal shop is a good place to start. Then you can have stencils cut from stainless steel. I get odd things lasered at a local shop and they are inexpensive. I tell them to nest and run it with another job or use a drop. Only thing I have to...

Electrical perhaps? If he does well he should be certified by the end of his apprenticeship. You can train him all other aspects of your sign business while he's in school. Now you have a licensed electrician in your shop that can do signs. If it doesn't work out he will have a solid trade...
  11. Dual Pass Prints LEC330

It's losing steps. Gotta be an encoder strip or similar that lets it know the exact position of the head. Find it, clean it, and report back.
  12. Buying a second hand cutter

Personally I would hook it up and run the wee out of it. Complex cuts with fine detail, long plots etc... If the seller won't let you do that run away.
  13. Eco-sol Max 3...now suitable for hospitals and schools.......

Wonder if I can run it in my SP540V? Only says current printers, but I can't imagine the ink train is that different. Of course if it was compatible what would that do to colors/profiles?

  18. How often is your flatbed or other equipment down?

Whenever questions regarding flatbed reliability issues are posted I read them with great interest. I will never own a flatbed yet wonder where the real issues lie. From the outside flatbeds look pretty dog gone simple, and shouldn't have any major issues, yet you hear the horror stories...

Odd comment about hating your shop. I don't. You are quite fortunate to have those type of workers. At the end of the day its your shop. Run it the way you want.
