  1. Seeking Advice/Help/Tips... & possibly a driver!

You could go serial, too, and then configure the COM port as stated in the manual, typically Baud Rate 9600, Flow Control X-ON/X-OFF, ...
  2. Seeking Advice/Help/Tips... & possibly a driver!

You'll need an XP device driver (USB, I assume) for the CT630. The Artcut should still be running AOK on XP. Check the Web site of your cutter's dealer or maker. Drivers are usually available for download.
  3. Acrobat software too good to be true

These may be legit licenses being sold illegitimately. :^) Some licenses are for inclusion with a new computer purchase, only. (to be preloaded on the machine.) But then some less than honorable dealers sell them individually. It happens with a lot of software, and I'm guessing Adobe...
  4. Stair Graphics?!?

Probably this, but I'd check the product liability statement to see if stairs are okay, too. Plus if there's a textured surface on the stairs, you may need a film that's for brick, asphalt, etc. Something tells me this is a lawsuit waiting to happen, unless some no-slip can be integrated...
  5. Blogging... what's that like?

Weblog, shortened to blog / bloggers / blogging. Here's the wiki on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog
  6. Problem with 24" vinyl express panther cutter.

Was this a one-time problem, or does it repeat itself? If a repeat problem, try to issolate if it's the software by trying fewer copies or copying into a new file and then step-and-repeat. Thanks,
  7. Blogging... what's that like?

Beware "businesses doing it = good idea" SMU :^) But sure, if it's fun-ish, then I'm in complete agreement. Doing what we want is the great luxury of having a successful business. Plus it's easy. Log into your Web hosting account and have WordPress installed at [your URL]/blog/ It's easy...
  8. Blogging... what's that like?

Agreed. But case studies are not a blog, per se. They can fit within a blog engine, such as Wordpress. But they're not a traditional blog (Web article that's news-like and people comment on). They're content showing past work in a detailed way; also accrue some of the brand equity of the...
  9. Blogging... what's that like?

I am not out to pick a fight, iSign. I am merely sharing my experience as a marketing exec (coupla decades) and yes, running/marketing/meeting payroll of my own businesses, including one that's currently active. Blogs seem a nice idea. When they got some traction in the beginning (media...
  10. need help with flexisign compatibilitiy

Hi John, Older versions of Flexi have no drivers for R Series cutters. But the LXi Apprentice that came with your R Series cutter does indeed have drivers for the Vinyl Express R19. So you could either design in Flexi and cut with LXi Apprentice or upgrade Apprentice to Master or Master...
  11. Blogging... what's that like?

Yeah; sorry. No doubt sign-makers are bringing in new business in droves because they have a "Read Our Blog" component on their Web site. Quick show of hands? Or would time be better-spent dropping off a business card at businesses around town with awful/ineffective signage? Whadaya think?
  12. Blogging... what's that like?

I think it's of limited value; you'll have fun writing it but few will read it. Micro-blogging (twitter, etc.) tends to be less work and gets you some measure of cred. But even then, few will read it who aren't your faithful followers, already (friends and family). Money-making in blog-land...
  13. Mac + Ricoh 7000 + flexisign

If he has a Summa cutter. They only include drivers for their own equipment. Correction!!! Sorry I reread. Indeed. WinPlot gets you there, RalphGS. But check Summa's support site and make sure the firmware for the cutter is the latest and greatest. And then download the newest WinPlot...
  14. Bicycles...............

Addendum: I forgot seat height!! Sorry. It's an uber-biggy; to do it right, is a bit involved. But very worth the effort: 1. Get a super-accurate inseam measurement by putting your back to the wall (in stocking feet, standing with feet side-by-side; no spread stance) and snugging a 2x2 into...
  15. Mac + Ricoh 7000 + flexisign

It's CoCut you're thinking of; they also make their own plug-in, WinPlot, but it only has drivers for their cutters.
  16. Bicycles...............

Hi Gino, Go with a fixie off of Craigslist. It'll get your "spin" burned into your motor pathways. Great training. Plus they're fairly cheap in the used market. But know what size you're looking for, i.e 53/54 cm if 5'8"-ish. Or 59/60 cm if nearer 6'0". Size matters. Google "bike fit...
  17. where do my jpegs and png's go

It could be they're CMYK images, but I doubt that's your default setting since you do it all the time. More likely the client is in Gmail, Yahoo, etc. and hasn't clicked "always display images from [you]." This is if you insert the image into the body of the email, rather than send as an...
  18. HP/GL-2 cmd error - HELP

Then best contact support directly: support@signwarehouse.com / 800.966.1783. If only the computer has changed then it's obviously a software setting. So the fix should be an easy one. Best Regards,
  19. HP/GL-2 cmd error - HELP

Send email to our support folks: support@signwarehouse.com. I suspect the cable has the wrong pin-out, if it's serial. Another possibility is the cutter and software are not speaking the same language. But our support folks can sleuth it for you quickly. Also this is a good resource to...
