  1. Charger Police Squad Skin

Ouch, I was trying to be helpful. I thought this may have been one of your first ventures into the police fleet graphics area... We do a decent amount, and have never done one w/o reflective. But, it's always been specified that way by the departments. I do agree that most police striping...
  2. Help, Please.... Roland XC-540

That should mean that (width wise) you have that much area from that basepoint to the left edge of the media, it should also be the basepoint linearly. So, if you're using 54" media & print something, then feed the material back through manually(using the arrows) & then move the carriage across...
  3. Help, Please.... Roland XC-540

It's been a year since I had the use of a Roland, but my Graphtec plotter does the same thing... I think it has to do with where the machine stopped printing/plotting the last piece. Then, once it is done printing you feed more material through (manually advance the roll) then cut off the...
  4. Charger Police Squad Skin

No reflective at all??? Every police/sheriff/fire/municipal/etc we do is almost 100% reflective (unless it's just a show/DARE car). It also has the front/back done so that when they're behind/in front of you you can tell it's a police officer. I've never put anything like that on the hood...
  5. Member who makes Pan Faces?

I'm looking for a local sign company in Cincinnati/NKY who makes pan faces. Have a client looking to purchase a new building with an existing pan face sign that needs replaced/refaced. I've never had a need for a pan face in the past & made my own flat faces. The face is around 7'x14'. Please...
  6. I used a scrap of left over digital white vinyl and it weeds better than normal vinyl

I'm thinking that you used the same cutting settings between both materials and that the cutting settings worked out better on the digital material than it did on the standard "cut" white vinyl. You need to tweak your plotter settings to match your standard cut vinyl better. I've never had...
  7. Embossed Printing

I have a vendor that does it pretty cheap for small quantities. Their name is Restylers Choice. Other automotive industry specialists can probably provide the service also. http://www.restylerschoice.com/Custom/cus_services.html#2 At first glance I thought you were talking about old school...
  8. Registration marks

We have an Edge FX & it is very accurate for print/cut on clear. Just used it today for this purpose (smaller order than yours - only 500). Send me an art file to see what exactly you're talking about & I can discuss pricing.
  9. Banners

I have to agree with Colorado Signs on this. I haven't stuck vinyl on a banner in a year +.
  10. Using metal shear to cut dibond and maxmetal

At our shop we cut with the table saw or score/cut the small pieces with a utility knife. We've taken larger sheets to a local metal shop to have the long edge sheared off 10' sections & the edge comes out factory perfect. Sorry I can't help the OP though.
  11. Should I sell my Gerber setup?

If you don't use it, sell it. No need for it to sit around doing nothing. We have one & it runs about every day here. Personally, I think that you possibly don't know all the capabilities that the little machine/software has & that's why you don't use it that much. i love being able to edge the...
  12. Print and cut on same machine

hmmmm.... good question. Where I worked before we had an SP540 print/cut (older model of what you're looking at) & I liked it. The ability to print/cut all in one function speeded up smaller temporary decal jobs, but it was a slow printer. Where I'm at now we have the GS6000 & a separate...
  13. Did Avery strike again?

It still looks like installer error, but the vinyl may also be beyond its shelf life if it's been sitting around a year now at your shop. (how long before that did it sit on your supplier's shelf - is there a date on the material?) Just by googlin I found this as a result; not sure if it's your...
  14. Printed/Engraved Plaques?

The other part of our company (vehicle manufacturer) is looking to get some engraved vehicle plaques made. (Sold & Serviced By Blah Blah Blah) They said printed & engraved plaques would look classy. Anyone here do this? Care to send me a picture of an example? The plaques would be around 3"x4"...
  15. Did Avery strike again?

The wider stripe with lifting at the bottom is possibly contamination. We see it sometimes if the person prepping the car left any adhesive remover on the car. Or, the vehicle cleaner sprayed some wheel cleaner, brake clean, etc, etc up a little too high & it ate the adhesive. I have also...
  16. Face Mount Window Graphics

Ordered a sample roll from my supplier to do a test print for the customer.
  17. Face Mount Window Graphics

Thanks Pat, that is what I will try. Not sure why I never thought of laminating with white on a clear reverse print...
  18. My left arm for a good employee....

First-off, I love the advice given above. However, it's making me think that I'm a bit under-valued here where I am employed... Finding the right person is hard to do. I have tried (and failed) at training assistants (from scratch) for the past couple years. So, I would find someone in the...
  19. Face Mount Window Graphics

I have a request for some face-mount window graphics for the inside of storefront windows. They are shipping these cross-country as part of their introductory program for a new software product. So, they need to be as simple to install as possible. I have an Epson GS6000, so they would be...
  20. Solid color vinyl on cling??

A Gerber Edge can print white on clear cling, or a solvent printer with a white print head could also. If you can't do the job; job it out to another local sign company that can. Add a bit on for your part of the work & make the customer happy.
