  1. Driveway directional sign

I have a question about your materials... Why use PVC instead of HDU? I understand in this case you wanted something reflective, but I see many people doing what we call a "combo pack," of HDU & PVC. Don't you find that PVC starts to warp faster than HDU? I see signs that are 3-4 years old...
  2. Shop T-shirts

I know you didn't ask for a critique... but its hard to read the back with the random blue letters. I kept trying to figure out if they spelled something. The front is perfect, but the back looks like to you are trying to be trendy (but not succeeding.)
  3. Zoo Printing opinions?

I use them and like the fact that their customer service is available by phone. I don't think I've ever had a problem with the printing of any of my orders. I think they are quick and offer a quality product. I'm very excited that they are opening a facility in NJ, and I hope they will be able...
  4. Scale and ppi

If 1 unit equals 10 units, and you want to scale it so 1 unit equals 1 unit, you need to multiply by 10. To change a multiple to percent, you have to move the the decimal to the right two places, so 1 = 100% so if you need 10 x 1, you need to multiply 10 x 100% = 1000%. Does this help at all?
  5. Problems with ProMag Magnetic Sheeting

ProMag is made by Magnum Magnetics. They have ProMag, PowerMag, DigiMag, etc. Call your supplier and request a new roll.
  6. Problems with ProMag Magnetic Sheeting

In the past month, I've had 4 clients return because their magnets fell off their cars. One person even came in before it fell off to show us how the edge was rolling. We remade the magnet (at our cost) and sent him on his way. I attributed it to a fluke, user error, etc. We were a little...
  7. Accepting Credit Cards

I gladly pay the higher rate per transaction with Square and here is why: I know exactly how much each swipe will cost me. There is no guessing what rate I'll be charged based on the type of card that it is. No more $5.95 / month "statement fee" No more $175 / year "PCI Compliance" (aka...
  8. Painting over full wrap

Right. Because when a long-time client comes in with a set budget, and we're not used to working within that budget, we are undercutting ourselves. Right. You are telling me that in your history of of making signs, you've NEVER cut corners to help a good customer out? NEVER ONCE?
  9. Painting over full wrap

Thank you for the input, I think I'm going to make this suggestion.
  10. Painting over full wrap

You are proving my point. If you have no experience painting over a wrap, or wrapping over a wrap, how do you know its going to fail? I'm not trying to be snarky, but how can you make a declaration about something that you have no experience with? If you have done this in the past, please...
  11. Painting over full wrap

Who said I wasn't being honest? Seriously, the biggest problem I have is that so many of you consistently ignore what is being posted. Instead you make assumptions, don't read through the thread, and then declare that the person asking the question is dense. The first thing I said to my client...
  12. Painting over full wrap

One last question... Would you risk losing a good client because you refuse to sway from your usual methods? Client: I've got this thing that is a big pain in the behind, its only temporary, and I'm planning on getting a brand new one in a few months. What can we do? Sign Shop: Your ONLY...

  14. Painting over full wrap

I understand and agree with your concern that doing shoddy work can effect someone's reputation. But did you happen to read my initial post? Normally I would ignore these types of customers, but this is actually one of my best clients... And he typically isn't a cheapskate, so I will honor...
  15. Painting over full wrap

This is a great question, and a helpful suggestion. We considered doing this, but because the entire trailer is wrapped with another companies' name and images, it will be difficult to cover up everything in this method. However, if the owner wants to be really cheap and ghetto, we may just...
  16. Painting over full wrap

Where did I say it has to last longer than a few months? Also, he doesn't care if it doesn't look perfect. The requirements are 1. Put my name and number on the trailer 2. Be economical. The trailer is on its last leg. I agree with him, why waste money fixing this one up when it can break down...
  17. Painting over full wrap

Gino, You clearly did not read my initial post. Also, you called my client a "mental midget"! And you're going to complain that I'm calling you names? I have a question for you. Lets say you have a hobby, like building model airplanes. You spend a good deal of money on your hobby, and you are...
  18. Painting over full wrap

So, there are five different successive examples in this thread that are different from your "right way". Only two ways you say?
  19. Zinsser primer

Go to Sherwin Williams and ask for their DTM (direct to metal) paint. I'm pretty sure you don't need to prime it metal before using it, but they would know better than me. I've been using it in place of one-shot recently, and I really like it... and as a bonus, you can have almost any color...
  20. Painting over full wrap

Tell me again how one tornado compares to one of the largest and most expensive natural disasters in US History?
