  1. How to attach velcro on banners?

I just buy velcro with the adhesive back. Fast and easy and never a failure. You can also get it with higher strength adhesives as well.

I guess I should rephrase the kerning issue. The numbers of arial kern awful!!!! I have seen so many 2010 dates with the "1" way out of whack. I am constantly fixing so called designers files as I just cant stomach printing or cutting that awful look.

  4. Font Rant !!!!

OK, is it me or has the entire sign world gone Arial crazy. On my drive to and from the office I always look at vehicle lettering or store front signage and I am flabergasted at the amount of use that this font gets. I have never liked the look of it and the kerning always looks like chit. I...

  10. Eco-Solvent Ink curing - especially on banners.

I am not sure of your Mimaki model but if the heads can be set to thick, then do that to start as I had the same problem when our machine was new and basically feared printing banners until I found this site and learnt that I can adjust the heads myself. I place a floor fan in front of the...
  11. Are you superstitious at work?

I have some superstitions with the Edge as well. If I turn the printer off before I cut the job, then something can go wrong. Before going home at night, I make sure all the chairs at the 3 work stations are all neatly under the desks and not swung around or pulled away....not sure what...
  12. Is My Print Head Going Bad?

but as mentioned you say the problem keeps returning. Now if your maintenance schedule is not very good then I suppose a good nozzle wash every week for 90 minutes will work, but if there is a problem with the rubber around the capping stations then best you get it changed.
  13. Is My Print Head Going Bad?

you dont need cleaning cartridges to perform a nozzle wash. Once Nozzle wash is selected you clean the wiper then hit enter and fill all 4 ink trays (or whatever they are called) with cleaning fluid and then set the timer in your case for 90 minutes. Afterwards swing the head across and clean...

  18. not much point in getting written approvals all the time

The guy called and admitted he screwed up and we will make it up on the next large order, then we got into a discussion about cigars and scotch...all is good. I know there are those here who say screw them or forward his email, but dont you think your chewing off your own tail? he knew he...
  19. not much point in getting written approvals all the time

I say this as it is fine for the walk in business or customers you dont do to much work for. When it comes to a good repeat customer, it really becomes difficult to say "hey man, you signed off and you screwed up and you will have to eat the cost of reproducing these again" That can generally...
  20. 20' banner - uh oh print not to good in one spot

I have completed 2 of the 20' banners a few minutes aga and the misprint was not a misprint but something in the material as it had a squiggle look. It looks fine and as I said the customer wanted wind slits so it worked out well. On the second banner I found the identical squiggle, not in...
