  1. silkcards.com MADE IN CHINA

Me. Really. Do you know how many people come in my shop asking for a job? Many of them have print-shop experience, but the shops have all but vanished. Almost 100% of my clients are local small businesses. If we ship everything out to China, then I won't have any clients.
  2. silkcards.com MADE IN CHINA

This is a big issue for me. I would like to know where my goods are being produced. Korea you say? Its possible. I double silkcards will actually be upfront and open with me at this point.
  3. silkcards.com MADE IN CHINA

Really? Prepare for your mind to be BLOWN. http://www.dhl.com/en/express/tracking.shtml?pageToInclude=RESULTS&type=trackindex&brand=DHL&AWB=5516127890
  4. silkcards.com MADE IN CHINA

Nope, they were shipped from China. I was so confused when DHL showed up, and he said "Yeah, these are from China." They purposely mislead me when I called and asked where they were shipping from. Apparently everything they sell is manufactured in China, and shipped to their warehouse in Nevada...
  5. silkcards.com MADE IN CHINA

I'm so frustrated. A few weeks ago I had a customer ask me about plastic business cards (I see there was a post about these a few days ago!) Anyway, I could have ordered them from Zoo Printing or even 4Over (i think) but I decided to do some research and I find a new company... Silkcards.com...
  6. Shop Window Lettering

Thank you for that. In the past month I've sold FIVE dimensional signs. We only want to do dimensional signs, and somehow I've convinced people that printed vinyl on random substrate is not the best for their business. Hopefully we'll actually start making a profit sometime soon. :)
  7. Shop Window Lettering

Actually, I get more of the "I know a lot of people." and "I'm your best customer, in the past 3 years I've spent $425!!"
  8. Shop Window Lettering

I emailed back a response stating the low quote was right around a wholesale rate, and also the quoted material is wrong for the job.. (Un-laminated Cast Vinyl for glass door?? Why?) It is a chain restaurant with about 12 locations, so yes, they may have been looking to get their foot in the...
  9. Shop Window Lettering

So what would you quote for this? Its part of a bigger job including 2x2' magnets (quoted $75 each). The original quote totaled around $750. Its not like this is some HUGE job that I can be throwing in stuff for free.
  10. GULF type replacement face.

I searched high and low last year, and came up with nothing. Quote HIGH, I lost a lot of money on that job... Someone had given me an excellent quote, which I used to price the job (not knowing, we never ordered a formed face before) and they screwed me over. I had to go to another company who...
  11. Shop Window Lettering

I have a client who sent me amazing artwork files to replace the door lettering at their restaurant. Its a 24x12 full color, contour cut graphic, applied on both sides of the door. The original sign has been up for about 3 years, and is completely faded (no lamination) which is why it needs to...
  12. Glitter Glass Background

I did some quick research, and that is exactly what I want to use. We will be using dimensional letters, and want a textured background. This is going to be for a Jewelry Store (in the ghetto :rock-n-roll:) and want to bling it out. Do you have any suggestions on how to use it? What do you use...
  13. Can I FAX that to you?

My thoughts exactly. My computer doesn't connect to the scanner very well, so if I do have to scan something, I need to use my partner's computer. Then I have to save the file, go back to my computer, attached it to an email, write the email address and click send. OR I can just type 10 numbers...
  14. Glitter Glass Background

Honestly, I have no idea what it is called. It looks like glass glitter, and I did a search for "glass glitter" and looks like what I saw on a sign. Do you have experience using smalt?
  15. Glitter Glass Background

We are working on a new project and want to try a technique we've seen around... Does anyone have experience using glass glitter on exterior signs? If so, how did you do that?!? I found glass glitter online, and I read that you literally just glue it on the substrate and then clear coat over...
  16. PVC Sign Materials

Who is your sign supplier? Harbor Sales has PVC post & rail kits, and I'm sure you can get them from other suppliers. If you want a curved top, between the rails, I suggest using a bottom rail, supporting the sides and jig-sawing the shape that you want.
  17. PVC Sign Materials

We don't ever like using PVC posts, but when we do, we just stick the hollow 4x4 in the ground and mount the panel in whatever way we see fit.
  18. The answer is "NEVER"

We had someone come in 19 months after his 5 coro lawn signs were done, looking to pick them up. Like you, we made them without a deposit on the fly (he called to order them, has done a pretty good amount of business with us before, etc, etc.) I must have called, no joke, 50 times to remind...
  19. Backing up a glass gild

We will have to wait and see! I realized that it takes a very long time for artists to hone their craft. Maybe in 10 years I'll have enough practice and experience to woo you. Maybe sooner!
  20. Backing up a glass gild

I've read that spar varnish can craze and crack. Did you ever have any issues with longevity? Also, when I search for "spar clear varnish" I get lots of marine varnishes. Is there a specific brand that you've used with good results in the past? I think I may use screen printing ink to back it...
