For die cut stickers, it starts with a roll printer & plotter just like you're probably doing.
Next step up would be a flatbed cutter like a summa, then up a bit from that would be a zund. Maybe a cwt digital die cutter in there.
Parallel to that would be a clamshell die cutter.

That "Black thing" looks like it should ride over the edge of the media you are printing to keep the edge from lifting while the head passes. I could be wrong though, have not operated a Mutoh before.
Not exactly what you are asking, but we do this annualized based on the printer and the square feet sold. We track how many sqft we sell off of a specific printer, then how much in ink and consumables we purchased. Divide that out for a pretty accurate overall cost of ink per sqft sold. This...
+20 for lamination. On a vehicle, it really needs something over the top. Not so much for durability, but to keep water or dust from collecting in the holes.
Now on a storefront, particularly for short term applications, lamination isn't as necessary.
This auction is currently at $660. This is a workhorse of a machine and someone is going to get a great deal. These are around $30k new. This is still the current model!
