  1. Need Help Need Help with Laminator Purchase

thread piracy, but i'll abide. only the bottom roller rotates via motor, nip pressure rotates the system.
  2. Need Help Need Help with Laminator Purchase

Have had my seal 54 base for ~10years, and zero complaints. Whichever laminator you choose, get one with a heat assist to reduce any potential silvering. only service I've had to do on the machine was re-wire the foot pedal cable, as it had pulled out of its internally-soldered connection...
  3. Laminating Paper

those take-up rollers fit a vinyl cardboard tube, at least mine does. to give it enough "friction" so that it doesn't just spin, i crush the center of the tube by stomping on it with my foot. Gives a bit of a tighter fit when sleeving it onto the takeup roll, but when we need to replace it...
  4. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

+1 interested in metrics info, if avail. ...or at the very least, what's the psf cost of ink&optimizer to print single-layer full coverage rich black?
  5. Need Help Edge lifting on 3M IJ180 during printing

ij180 shouldn't be having reaction to the temps, maybe there's adhesive or sticky build-up on the pinch rollers could be encouraging lifting during print?
  6. Suggestions Glueing PVC Letters to PVC Backer

you've got thick letters and a thick backer.... I'd be routing them both with matching mounting holes and just use a brush with a few dabs adhesive while you finish with rivots/cs-screws/studs
  7. Printer service call labor costs vs. doing the work yourself

its a GREAT idea! especially if you're slow due to shut-down, and an added bonus that you're further limiting your shop to exposure from outside elements. just keep in mind, that you can always do more harm than good if you simply start ripping things apart. treat it like a computer, that...
  8. Onyx question.

have you contacted onyx? could just have communications issues/conflicts related to your firewall/antivirus software edited to add: the knowledge base also touches on issues with onyx/hp driver conflicts if both are not kept up2date. maybe one printer is running a v.5.1 and another is a...
  9. 38' Cigarette Boat... Seams???

sans-seams, whenever possible. i see no difference between 12' and 150' when it comes to lamination, unless you're rocking a bigsqueegee and a 10' table but there's still ways to make that work.
  10. looking for someone to help modify a file

plenty of free online tools at your disposal, as well. for funsies, and reference to links posted, I just converted an image on my desktop using google searches for "online upload photo edit" greyscaled using picturetopeople dot org and then added red color to the greyscaled image via manytools...
  11. Need Help How to remove old liner off acrylic?

I know you said you tried it, buuuuuuut RapidRemover. spray & wipe to "wet" the face, let it sit a couple of minutes. then when you start peeling you'll LOVE how the paper&adhesive comes off the panel like the plastic wrapper on a slice of Kraft cheese. I've salvaged sheets of acrylic that...
  12. Bare minimum to charge / ask during pandemic? Lowest price you would comfortably go down to??

i call b.s. Your quote is closer to what mine & many others would-be. His "last-guy's quote" may have only been a partial-wrap & lettering OR was just an item line on a quote that didn't include installation, or the guy was operating a business out of the trunk of his car and was just happy to...
  13. Suggestions Abaco Beach Wallpaper

wait, so it's not laminated then? sorry if i was mistaken, my rant was directed as the thought that the ink just coming-off at the tile trim-line. the whole point of liquid laminate is to protect the ink from abrasion/UVfading. Much like the painted finish on a car, you would be scuffing the...
  14. Suggestions Abaco Beach Wallpaper

the issue here, is that you're laminating a printed textile....but then trimming it, exposing the edge of the white material. the color isn't cast-through the material. only way to "hide" that edge, is to do zero-overlap tiling. trimming your tile-line on the wall, one cut through both layers.
  15. Tiger King

first two episodes, are numbing. After that, holy hell. Interesting story, not just TigerKing himself but the three different perspectives on the same industry. worth the watch just to share the same WTF?!?conversations, but plenty of summaries online at this point to get the jist and save...
  16. Finally something good from COVID-19

facebook and google are passively blowing yelp out of the water. totally agree that their platform is a scam in the sense that theirs more opportunity for trolls to do damage, than there are for legit reveiws to represent your business, unless you pay to play.
  17. Need Help applying without bubbles

Lamination won't help with the bubbles. However, it not only enhances the longevity of your product BUT it also makes your vinyl thicker and easier to handle during the application stage. If you're wet applying and getting bubbles, then you need more soap in your water and a keen-eye for...
  18. Need help for vp 540 boards .. no power

from another forum, same machine same problem: S - "the steady green light on top tells you that the system is getting power. No power to the control panel means - cable came off or the fuse could be blown. Now if you did not remove the cable, then the likihood is the fuse is blown. There...
