  2. Review What do you prefer most channelume method or traditional trim on acrylic faces

we prefer sheet metal backs & returns with 1" trimcap. can paint the returns of the letter any color I desire without having to paint mask the acrylic & replacement faces don't require remaking the entire letter. ....and a sheet of .063" aluminum is 1/3rd the cost of a 3/8" sheet of alumacorr.
  3. Dont know about you, but my buisiness just stopped

its real for now, out of paranoia of what it could do left unchecked.... like italy. granted, 1/3 of their population is over 60yrs old and nobody even had a clue this was a thing until the entire country was infected and were showing big numbers of pneumonia patients. Stay safe out there, as...

  5. Las Vegas....What's the plan?!

I don't live in vegas, but its only a matter of time before everyone follows-suit, to not be the one that bungled containment. +1 to staying open, with limited or zero contact. if they wanna pull the plug on our ability to install, then there will just be a pile of signs ready to go-up once we...

  7. Jv3 Error 07 HEAD / Printhead codes?

i've gotten that error on my mimaki jv3 two different ways.... one was a creased ribbon cable, which i replaced, and the other was a drip of ink that ran down the ribbon cable and into the printhead's ribbon cable connection....resulting in having to replace the printhead. BUT the fact that...

  9. Need Help Latex 370 reds fading in and out.

assuming your test print is firing 100%, then it seems like ink starvation. try pulling out your ink cartridge and give it a jiggle, if it feels empty then it probably is lower than it is registering within the machine.
  10. What does this problem look like to you?

i used to have this problem on my mimaki, and thought it was contaminated roll, but problem persisted throughout multiple rolls..... but it was actually flecks of debris being kicked-around by the carriage belt during operation, raining-down onto the print.
  11. Need Help Printing "RED" on Oracal 5600 Reflective material

Ruby Red you'd be somewhere in the range of C2 M100 Y95 K10. print CMYK or PMS charts with ICC profiles turned off, to use as your base values for tweaking sample prints until you find CMYK values to your liking and then create a spot color palette for future use.
  12. Backlit issues

dual-layer printing is the new standard. plenty of threads on this forum explaining it. Trying to double-strike ink in a single layer makes daytime viewing dark/muddy, and single-layer print will wash-out when illuminated. color>white diffuser>color>lightsource for proper day/night...
  13. Need Help acrylic cracking after applying vinyl.

any solvents on cnc cut & flame polished acrylic will crack plexi there's a thread somewhere here discussing it, youtube vids explaining it as well, but apparently the flame polishing creates tiny pores of stressed acrylic and the solvent glides up into, expands, and cracks.

  15. Need Help Out-gas vinyl on polystyrene

cast or calendared is fine. Appears to be just that pesky controltac/airegress adhesive vinyl. I've also taken the extra time to use a heat gun to post-application heat&softsqueegee to completely "wet" the adhesive to the surface and make sure there's no pockets of "lightly applied" vinyl to...
  16. Need Help Out-gas vinyl on polystyrene

hygroscopic substrate is most likely the issue. ...absorbing/sweating moisture, that gets trapped under vinyl that doesn't allow it to pass-thru & darker colors then heats-up in direct sunlight creating the bubbles from water vapor & vinyl expansion. i never have much issue with cast...
  17. Question A serious question..........................

You don't get paid to scratch your head for an hour and then give-up. I would contest the fee, if its worth hours of your time, or simply pay it to save yourself the headache and move-on to makin' money. ....if its a matter of creating a .pdf from quickbooks, is it possible to print what you're...
  18. Need Help Stupid and Expensive mistake

another thought, since you're already in florida, would be to drive out to Orlando for the ISA Expo and pick someone's brain that is repping one of these machines. chances are, they have access to the service/operator's manual for the exact if not similiar make/model.
  19. What would you REALLY do if you had symptoms of Coronavirus?

here, in the North, we would treat it... like the FLU! rest up, heal up, and keep your germs behind your pile of snow. I would also remind myself that death rates amongst SARS & MERS were 34% and 9%, respectively, .....COV19, is at 2%.
