Head heat errors almost always mean there is a short in the system. Usually it's a dirty or damaged head cable but it could also be a bad head, trailing cable, main board, or any electrical component in between. I usually start with head cables.
Print head refurbishing isn't really a thing. You can change the manifold and flush it but that's about it. If anything other than just being clogged is happening, they are unrecoverable.
That heat setting seems a bit high from my experience. Normally on a cast vinyl I am closer to 35ish for pre and platen heat and I usually just crank the post heater all the way up.
I normally don't ever use low pinch roller pressure. It can cause the pinch rollers to slip which throws the...
The black is deflecting a little bit but not missing enough nozzles to cause the drop out you are getting in the solid black. I would make sure all maintenance parts are very clean and check the bottom of the head to make sure there isn't anything that may be preventing it from making a good...
It looks like your print heads are just clogged or damaged. Post a picture of the nozzle check and it will be easier to diagnose. I don't think it's a file or RIP setting issue.
I don't have a lot of experience with the Latex machines but I was under the impression that they were cheaper to maintain than a solvent machine. I can maintain a Mimaki CJV150 for an entire year for about $300 and that includes changing parts no one ever changes. Not sure how a machine with...
I don't have those cables so you should contact a local Roland dealer. In my experience, changing trailing cables out is more tedious than hard. The main concern is not cutting the cable on the edges of the sheet metal covers.
If it works it's fixed! Good job! Just be ready for problems later. If it is a trailing cables issue, which I am leaning towards, it will get worse as time goes by. If that's the case you will know where to start if it does become a problem.
If you get a head strike on vinyl, the vinyl usually bunches up and the head stops when it senses this. You run a cleaning cycle to recover the nozzles and then keep on printing.
If you get a head strike on magnet, all of the force goes into the head because the magnet doesn't budge and is...
If you never talked about specific colors, they approved the proof, and the final product matches the proof, you are in the clear in my opinion. If the final product does not match the color on the proof however, they are in the right. I could go on a rant about using Pantone colors as a...
I'm not sure if that model has an environmental match option in the menu but most Rolands do. Try running that and see what happens. It should tell you if something with the encoder is messed up.
What ended up costing more on the latex? I have people asking me all the time about cost of ownership between the two but don't have a ton of real life experience with the latex.
Have you changed any parts recently? While this does look similar to an encoder issue, usually encoder issues have a diagonal or stair step pattern rather than perfectly straight lines. I would definitely clean it to rule it out but if that doesn't fix the issue, I would be interested in if it...
Yeah you have to have both Cyans in for it to work. That was just to test it out. The on;y thing I can think of that may be happening is you have an old worn out damper and it's allowing ink to fall out of the head when it is just sitting there. Otherwise, both cyan cartridges should empty at...
How American of me to think everyone on this site is in America! lol We do ship to Australia but you can probably find a dealer closer to you who can get you one as well.
Take the cartridge out and rock it back and forth. You should be able to tell about how full it is from that. If there is still a bunch of ink in it, it's probably a bad sensor or defective cartridge.
Unfortunately that cable is hard wired into the head. Also, $500 for a DX7 is almost certainly a scam but if you go for it and it works out let me know!. Here is a link to the head on our website. We are the only dealer in America selling OEM heads from Mutoh America at this price. Everyone else...
