  1. Newbie Designer Here

Brad gave the best advice, read up on those subjects, especially Mike Jackson's book. Second, s sign has a job to do, keep it simple and legible, what looks good on a computer screen doesn't always work in real life. Oh, and if you ask questions here have a thick skin, lots of angry keyboard...
  2. Need Help Old Bank back lit sign to be replaced with new liquor store info

If sign is on the ground susceptible to damage use polycarbonate and if you want to match that logo order black print on translucent white You are also going to have rearrange the logo to make it work on that size background
  3. Magnet alternative??

    No
  4. Logo Design

His first one is a rip off of an existing design and his second one sucks , makes no sense, what with the giant D and the illegible scrawl that supposed to be claws. At least your simple one is legible, but the claw marks remind me too much of Monster Energy. I would make sure your billing is...

    won’t work without the dongle
  6. How To Cut Aluminum Composite Material

We use our panel saw for big pieces and shear the small ones. Hit the edge with a file or round bar if needed
  7. Contracting with another sign shop

Yea, most of those companies that advertise on SOT aren't looking for national accounts. They aren't interested in working with small local shops. You can try calling some of the medium size local electrical shops, you may get lucky. We had some luck with that but when they got busy our jobs...

  12. Rise of the Machines - AI Vector Tracing is coming for our Bitmaps!

How would it do with the some of the crappy jpg screenshots or photo of a business card that clients send. Sometimes you have to deduce what it is and make it up.
  13. Outdoor sign substrate

10mm coroplastic is fine for a sign like that as long as it’s properly fastened. Or for just a bit more an econo acm. I hate banners on 4x4 posts because they never get put up well and don’t stay taut.
  14. Oddball sign bracket

It does look a little like two of the "Deluxe Brackets" with an oval added but probably a full custom job
  15. Weeding reflective

I didn’t say it was the same as cast, but it weeds great for reflective. Just a little caution in the corners were it could tear. We use a lot of reflective for fire trucks
  16. Weeding reflective

    We use 3M/Gerber, no problems
  17. Underwater Signs?? Vinyl/Laminate that will hold up underwater?

Ha! Zombie thread, I love it. But I actually had to do a sign to this type of spec since this was first brought up. This was the sample we made. It's a Tide Marker for a commercial dock, bolted to a piling. We reverse lettered on lexan backed with white, then the lexan was backed with 1" thick...

They were absorbed by a junior college and then disappeared. They had a two year sign programs and a 2 year illustration program. It was in an old brownstone near the Public Gardens. One floor for each year
