This type of thing is the absolute bane of this industry.
Read about it (on here) all too often.
I have no respect for people with "shoulders" this small. (man or woman)
If you order something, put something in motion, by golly don't back out because you've come up with yet another, cheaper...
You want to get the best deal you can, of course.
But if you've got the work, that thing will make you so much money you won't even worry about what you might have saved. Worry more about work you're losing out on! Get busy printing.
Call Doug Zeal at Denco. We just purchased ours a month or two back and got a killer deal. (Roland was offering incentives) He might still be able to help you out with a good deal.
It's an outstanding printer!
No, I'm not concerned with fading. I want a slight "glint" to the paint. I've been looking closer at homes that have painted siding on them like mine and I think the satin look is much more attractive to my eye.
I've owned this house 27 years and painted it twice in that time. Getting it ready...
My take on it is this. New customer, ok, sure, but he's so obviously lying that I'm not sure I want to set up the first business transaction with him as any kind of precedent.
ie: how bad do I want this type of customer? Our business/client model is based on mutual trust! I don't trust this...
Ok, I get that I may end up with a less opaque paint. Painting a gloss clear over the paint isn't an option. It's the front of my house. I've got 5 gallons of paint left from the last paint job, but the front faces south and west and really takes a beating in the summer. I thought if I could add...
Flat exterior house paint. (latex)
Someone has suggested (on the web) that adding some water-based polyurethane will bring it up to a satin or semi-gloss sheen. I do have some of that in a one gallon can. Have about 5 gallons of flat paint.
Your comments? Or what is your workaround?
Agree that even though we may "claim" a certain client as ours, we have no holds on them or their future business.
My shop is in a fairly small market so we notice all the new signs going up. Occasionally one of "our" clients gets a new one, but not from us.
We scratch our heads and wonder...
Be careful of random, stray advice from people. (Roland's can't be worked on, "no way to do my own repairs")
Roland is a very, very solid machine. It can be self-serviced if that's your thing. We use techs, except for routine maintenance and I don't think that's what you're talking about...
Baz, are you able to tell me (by comparison) if your output colors are as vibrant or even more vibrant than whatever you were using before?
Or put differently, will I get brighter colors with this machine, (over my Sp-540V) if I go with the CMYK x2 setup? I'm quite sure I'd get even brighter...
Purchased the new VSi from Roland. Now they tell me that configuring the machine CMYK x2 results in much faster print speeds.
But if I go with CMYK Lm, Lc, Lk, I get better greys, and colors, correct?
Now, we don't do any Giclee prints or anything, but I've been told that my old machine...
Cost of living in Seattle is much higher than in my little burg, 180 miles south. My two sons live there. Actually one in Bellevue. When he told me two years ago what he paid for for his three story condo, I about fainted. But he said, "don't worry about it pops, this is Bellevue" that amount is...
Hey, I'm dumb. Probably the only guy on here to take this as a serious request.
I did work with a Kent Gabriel at a sign shop in Portland Or. many years ago. He was a good designer. I may know of someone who could put you in touch with him, if that's even the right Kent.
