  1. Weathered look in Photoshop?

I'd like to find a simple, easy to understand tutorial to produce a weathered look to a sign. I have CS5. Any ideas?
  2. New from Chicago Suburbs

Yeah, ancient history. Lived there in 1970, newly married. Took the train everyday to work at Monsanto (in the loop). Read the Chicago Sun Times daily (probably out of business by now) on the way. (Northwest Line) Hah, haven't thought about that in a while. Well, anyway post up any questions...
  3. New from Chicago Suburbs

Welcome to the forum. I lived in Crystal Lake and Woodstock as a young married man. Bet it's changed a lot since then. Worked downtown Chicago in the loop for an engineering firm. We run a Roland printer as well.
  4. Credit Card Processing WTF?

Agree totally! We have a large quadrant of companies that have their authorized buyers carry P-cards. It's quicker than getting a Purchase Order, sending an invoice, waiting the 30 days. Would not have it any other way. But....we are not paying 7% either. Might change things if we were. We are...
  5. Here's a new one! (rant)

    Exactly!
  6. Here's a new one! (rant)

Hello Marlene, Thanks for "getting it". Like sometimes we outsource portions of a job, maybe it's getting some 3-D letters made, which ultimately become a part of a larger job. I can just see it, telling the company that cut the letters out, "hey, send a bill to my client". "Go collect from them!"
  7. Here's a new one! (rant)

The agency DOES want to make money! But they don't want to pay me directly, apparently. My guess is that the new owner is so inexperienced and naive about business that she thinks that her client is going to accept this idea. (that they will get two bills, one from the service agency, and one...
  8. Here's a new one! (rant)

This point is being missed. They are NOT my clients. My client is the agency. I cannot bill people who have not contracted with me. They wouldn't pay. Why would they?
  9. Here's a new one! (rant)

Think about it. Her client knows nothing about me. And that's how it should be. (that's the deal) So now I send them an invoice. (in this particular case it's a large hospital) Are they going to simply take my invoice and pay it? With no P.O.number, no authorized buyer's name, nothing...
  10. Here's a new one! (rant)

So we've been doing contract printing for this service agency for a few years. Always been good, no problems other than than the margins are slimmer than with our own customers. But that's a off-set because we don't have to do artwork, send proofs, deal with the end client, etc. Now they've...
  11. Another Supplier for formed plastic, metal, plaques and changeable copy letters

Same here. Do it the easy way folks, fill out their credit app, and be done with it. Net 30 is the way to fly. I have terms with all my vendors. Makes it nice. Pay them up in full, once a month, and you'll enjoy the best of relationships with them. Just my two cents added.
  12. Another Supplier for formed plastic, metal, plaques and changeable copy letters

In praise of Gemini I've had a totally different experience. Dealing with Gemini for 28 years now and never have I been disappointed in their quality or service. I'm content with their pricing. (which allows for a 40% markup) The word "slimy" cannot enter into my head in any way when...
  13. Font ID help, please.

Hey, thanks a ton! That helps much.
  14. Help! Blurry One Way Vision on sloped vehicle rear windows

Wrong laminate. I think they may be trying to pull a fast one on you. The optically clear stuff is much more expensive than regular "daily use" laminate. Ask them to re-make and re-send you the printed graphic. Then you'll know exactly the kind of vendor you're dealing with.
  15. SOLARIS ink for a Roland?

We used this ink brand for about 6 years with no problems on our Roland SP-540v. We don't use it now because our new printer (the VSi-540 Roland) will not be under warranty if we do. (we have a two year warranty and our "new" machine is 6 months old or so).
  16. Font ID help, please.

    Any one recognize this font?
  17. Where to sell a used printer

My opinion is to seek a buyer using regional sources such as Craig's List. That's how we sold ours, six months ago. Typically a buyer for this type of thing isn't going to see it on Ebay and buy it from a far away place and have it shipped. They want to come to it's home, see it run, perform...
  18. looking for Gardener Planting a tree image

Tons of this sort (see attached file) of illustrations available on line. This one will cost you $3.00 from CanstockPhoto. Didn't see the very file you're asking about, but didn't search all of the stock clip art sites either. Try BigStock photo, others.
  19. Anyone remember being an apprentice

Super nice post! Brought back some memories for me. Thanks.
  20. How to drop the Roland Color System Library into Gerber Omega Composer?

Don't have Illy, but do have CorelDraw X5. I guess I can do the same thing, copy and paste layout into CDX5 and assign colors there. Then export to VersaWorks. Correct?
