How does one tell a black tip shark from an ordinary vanilla shark?

Actually, it's called 'aliasing'. Aliasing is inherent in many bitmap operations, especially resizing. Most software provides an 'anti-aliasing' option when resizing bitmaps. All this does is blur the boundaries between high contrast areas.
