  1. fc8000-130 ARMS sight trouble

What software? How large are your prints? How squarely do you have the media loaded in the plotter? What is the difference between the logical size of your prints and the physical size? If it's more than just a tad you need to set the printer's output feed compensation or whatever it's...
  2. fc8000-130 ARMS sight trouble

Trimming the media to move the origin is like turning the room to unscrew a light bulb. Why don't you just use the arrow buttons to move the carriage and/or media to where you want the origin to be located and then press the button clearly labeled 'Origin'?
  3. what is your weighted average sale?

    1. 'Weighted Average' is a statistical machination generally applied to data over time. Just what in hell are you talking about when you say 'weighted average sale'? 2. Signs is signs. 3. The classic model of material costs vs anything is material costs vs list price not labor. Rule of...
  4. Pantone matching for digital printing

That would depend on the lights. If you use 5600K or higher tubes, and you use enough of them, there's not just a whole hell of a lot of difference. My shop is lit with 6000K T8 tubes in sufficient number and placement such that there is no shadow anywhere. It's pretty much indistinguishable...
  5. Pantone matching for digital printing

I point to the large Pantone chart on the wall that I printed on like media and tell them to pick a color they like. I tell them that that chart is the truth and all else is illusion. If that won't do then I guess they can go elsewhere.
  6. My knife will not work

The knife tool is not one of Corel's finer efforts. More often than not it's easier to simply create another object and use that object to trim the original object.
  7. Fade behind a image

You can use the drop shadow tool in Corel Draw. This will look nice on your monitor but may not reproduce well. Corel Draw has some real problems with this. Most likely you will end up with a slightly discolored rectangle that bounds the drop shadow. Even if you separate the drop shadow...
  8. Print And Cutting Issues

If by 'offset' you mean the contour is consistently out of register always in the same direction then you might want to check the plotter's 'Sensor Offset'. See your manual. If the error is all over the map and not consistently in one direction then most likely something is loose somewhere...
  9. Advice to remove vinyl residue

Orange Peel solvent and an old squeegee or a Little Chiseler. Squirt on some orange peel, let it sit for a minute or two, then scrape off the residue and wipe the squeegee in a paper towel. It comes off like really sticky snot.
  10. Take-up reel

A pragmatic solution but innovative? Hardly, that's exactly the way the take up tackle on my old Mutoh Falcon Outdoor worked. A mechanism that I liked far better than the take up gear from hell on the Valuejet.
  11. Need some Help with Cutter ARMS contour cutting

In Production Manager select your printer setup and do Setup->Output Size Compensation...
  12. Need some Help with Cutter ARMS contour cutting

What is the firmware level on your plotter? A few years back Graphtec released a firmware update that was addressed this. Supposedly it increased the region the plotter would search for the wayward registration mark. What, exactly, is the distance between mark #1 and mark #2. What is it...
  13. Release selection on bitmaps?

    Lock it.
  14. How come flexi does not print exactly like...

Wrong, rendering intents are fundamental to digital printing. Here's how you set them.... In Flexi: Edit->Color Settings... Note that the third tab on the dialog that's displayed is clearly labeled 'Rendering Intents'. In Flexi's RIP and Print: On the third tab [Advanced Options] invoke...
  15. How come flexi does not print exactly like...

Rendering intent is a set of specifications on just how to perform color correction on various types of objects. It is set in Flexi under Edit->Preferences, in both the RIP and Print and Production Manager with, if memory serves, the 'color specifications' or something like that button on the...
  16. How come flexi does not print exactly like...

No. If the RIP is Flexi then rendering intent is involved unless color correction is turned off. Even then I'm not all that sure that rendering intent is bypassed.
  17. How come flexi does not print exactly like...

What RIP? What are your rendering intents? How are you printing from Corel? What steps?
  18. can I print up a colour chart from the colour libraries

You have both have a Pantone book and print a swatch table. The former shows you what the colors are supposed to be, the latter shows you what they actually are. Load the flexi cmyk table, make the first black 100%K and 0% C,M, and Y, get rid of the second black and make the swatch table...
  19. Printing Double Sided banners on VJ?

Center the image manually, don't rely on the center function. Don't be dismayed if you have to make a couple of starts to get it right. Cut the leading edge of the banner material square. Load the material for side one. Use two pieces of masking tape on the platten. One aligning with the...
  20. blacktip shark vector

Exactly. So take an image of some other shark and add a black tip.
