  1. Need Help Summa D140 - Stopping Mid Cut

I can't recall this happening before and I've been using the same cable. Only thing I could think of doing is a reset of the cutter possibly. Other than that it must be something with communication and not the files themselves.
  2. Need Help Summa D140 - Stopping Mid Cut

    Actually it's not shielded (UTP)
  3. Need Help Summa D140 - Stopping Mid Cut

Had this happen a few times yesterday. Have a roll printed, I used barcode to cut printed sections, and it cut through 95% of the sheet, stopped and cut straight across the sheet through work. Another sheet stopped about 50% through, paused for a minute and then went on to look for the next...
  4. Metallic gold vinyl

Yeah, some had said to let it dry longer or use a different laminate, but it never worked they all eventually curled. The only one I've had success with is the Briteline when printing full bleeds. Otherwise it's always best to stick to no bleeds or pulling the artwork away from the cut to avoid...
  5. Metallic gold vinyl

I've tried RTape metallics and also I tried some sign vinyl by Griff and they all curled when I printed to the edges and cut. The only vinyl I have had luck with is the Briteline holo vinyl. It's a 6mil so it's a bit on the thick side but I've had no problems with that curling at all. I'll...
  6. One man shop growing pains

Nope. Caught a second wind. :)
  7. One man shop growing pains

I've been doing 60hrs+ , 7 days a week for the last 2.5yrs. I take a half a day off every few months. Rest and time off is overrated imo.
  8. What kind of computer do you guys run for a RIP?

I'm running my Epson 40600, Graphtec and Summa cutter off my laptop. I could use a bit more power for handling larger files but it's served me well for the last couple years. My Lenovo P50 with an Intel Core I7-6700HQ (2.6GHZ) and 16GB Ram.
  9. Summa S2 T140 oposX cut on holographic vinyl???

I'm not sure if you've tried the filter over the OPOS sensor, but it's worth a shot. I've had decent success cutting Briteline holographic vinyl and some other metallic material. I've found that making the print setup with the least amount of reg marks for it to read, Summa will put one about...
  10. Need Help Shifting cuts on stickers

I'm not sure why either, all I know is that rollers are crowned so the middle is slightly tighter than the outer edges and when I cut those bad sheets the center was way off near the tail end but the other edges were not really affected as much as the center. This is why I point to the laminator...
  11. Need Help Shifting cuts on stickers

I printed another sheet, but this time I ran it through the laminator slightly different. I pulled the laminate through the back and tacked it to the take-up roll, then placed my sheet into the nip and closed the rollers and fed the sheet through. Put it on the cutter and haven't changed any...
  12. Need Help Shifting cuts on stickers

No it stays flat. I've never had this bad of an issue cutting, that's why I think it's more of a lamination issue. However only reason I think it's a lamaintion issue is how I do sheet. I will roll my laminate over the top roll about 3/4ths of the way down the roll, tack a piece of backing onto...
  13. Need Help Shifting cuts on stickers

Same....I just laminated a roll, same materials and same roll of laminate and no issues at all in cutting. It's very odd and yes I'm not quite sure why it is so pronounced either....I was getting better results off my crooked RS laminator. lol I've got no tension on the laminate roll and...
  14. Need Help Shifting cuts on stickers

Thing is is that it less towards the outer edges of the sheet. It's much worse in the middle of the sheet. I'm not sure sure it's the cutter but my lamination incompetence, if I did these on rolls they'd have almost no variation.
  15. Need Help Shifting cuts on stickers

Onyx to print and cut, summa barcode for loading sheets. It's the same as I've been using for the last year or so. I can only think it comes down to the lamination process and not so much the cutter.
  16. Need Help Shifting cuts on stickers

    Summa D140 and I've got a GFP 363TH laminator
  17. Need Help Shifting cuts on stickers

So I've noticed when I laminate single sheets I get a horrible shift in cutting. I'm only assuming this is due to how I'm laminating them, if I did this on a roll it wouldn't be an issue. I'm just not sure where I'm going wrong with setting the sheets up to run through the laminator. The only...
  18. Onyx 19 - Layouts

That seems like what I'm doing now, but say if I have a bunch of stuff that will fit on a a 4' x 2' sheet and the next piece is larger and won't fit on that. I'm trying to see if there is a more automated way to have it break apart jobs into sheets of varying lengths.
  19. Onyx 19 - Layouts

Since I've gotten my roll-to-roll setup going now I'm wondering if it's possible to have Onyx layout stuff automatically to fill a certain area. Say I've got some 11.5" x 9.5" pieces and some 10.5" x 9.38" pieces...I want to be able to toss it into the Rip telling it how many copies I need of...
  20. Question Sheets vs Roll Process

Thanks for the tips guys! Highly appreciated! For single sheets of just use a little piece of backing paper to get it started and just feed sheets through, being careful not to let sheet run through the nip before the next sheet I put in. Rolls have been great and it's easier than I thought...
