  1. Hypocrisy...or is it?

More and more I'm coming to agree with Fred's assessment. I like the part about "some attention paid to relationships and niceties", though. Though it certainly is a factor in buying decisions, it just doesn't "weigh" as much as some other factors. I have to say, in the last couple of years my...
  2. Hypocrisy...or is it?

Sitting with my guys at Starbucks every morning. Solving the world's problems, you know. So the other day one guy says, "hey'd you see the out of state contractor they got to build that new (fill in the blank....school, bridge, shopping center, etc.)? Why didn't they use ______________? (our...
  3. Hypocrisy...or is it?

A recent thread on here got me thinking about something. So many times I read about shops complaining about clients going out of town for their sign work, rather than using them, their "native son" (local guy) All well and good, but really, how many of us use on-line (out of the area) shops...
  4. Wholesale source for stainless coffee mugs

I assume you mean laser-able mugs. We buy ours from JDS Industries. Google 'em.
  5. It's not Times New Roman, but similar.

The Baskerville fonts will work. Some horizontal scaling and kerning get's me there. Thank you, people. I love this place, big help to me sometimes.
  6. It's not Times New Roman, but similar.

Anyone know this font? "FFS" the other font is different. I also don't know that one.
  7. Snag some great fonts and help a fellow sign guy

Ordered the six this morning. Best of luck, Charles.
  8. Steam cleaning to remove residual adhesive?

Would that be a rental item? Or purchase?
  9. Encoder strip question

Yeah, I think that even though the strip has fine markings calibrated on it and it must be carefully made, $250.00 is a ton. It's probably one of those replaceable, wear-out parts that help dealers be profitable. Easy to put in, easy to stock. Tech's probably care six of them around with them...
  10. Price Guide...

Maybe Fred doesn't want to be passionate with you. After all he is a married man. lol.
  11. Steam cleaning to remove residual adhesive?

21 foot cube van has had lettering removed. They did a pretty good job, not great gobs of glue left, but enough to catch road dirt and look bad. We have to letter all four sides of this beast and was wondering if steam is effective? I'm assuming you can rent a machine somewhere to do this...
  12. Committees...

Been there done that. One of the most frustrating aspects of this industry. Since they are a bunch of people volunteering their time, they don't view your time as of great importance.
  13. Proper way to Print>Laminate>Cut?! Material wanders away?!

CSOCSO, are you performing a "environmental match" prior to cutting? You should do this prior to any cut. (hit menu, and tap the up scroll button eight times to bring it up) Didn't see any other repliers mention this and I think it's the number one priority. Say you printed during a warm part...
  14. Someone stole my design

Shouldn't you sort of try and write up something yourself? How hard can it be? You basically state "the artwork shown belongs to you and no use can be made of it without your written consent", etc.. Put in some "teeth", penalty for infringement, etc. Seems like this is your the third post...
  15. Which Table Saw for PVC, Aluminum, Dibon

As stated in previous posts, any decent contractors saw will do nicely. Be sure to build a nice "run-out" table and you can handle 4'x8' sheets by yourself. Secondly, build yourself a nice "cut-off box" to go with it. I can supply photos of our set up if needed but it's pretty straight forward...
  16. This job is really funny!

Yeah, well that's all right. Some people go pretty quick over the forums, everyone is so busy and all. The graphics you see are all in paint, done by an unknown person down near Monmouth, Oregon I have heard. His red to black fade/gradient is darn good. The stripes appear to be all hand work...
  17. Font I.D. please

    Thank you, people!
  18. Font I.D. please

Again, a font that looks like ten thousand others. But they gotta have this particular one. Any ideas?
  19. A bridge that you may cross

On a personal note, this fool lost his first marriage, missed a lot of his kid's growing up, etc......all because of his stubborn refusal to call it quits at 5:00pm. Now I'm remarried (15 years now) to a girl who gets all the attention she deserves. We've worked together in this business...
  20. A bridge that you may cross

My take on this idea from the original poster is that, don't put yourself in the grave, miss out on important family matters, etc. trying to get out all the work that you've promised. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe I'm reading too much between the lines, but that's the take I got on his post...
