  1. This job is really funny!

Top fuel dragster funny car. Just a little grocery-getter with a few thousand horse. We're completely changing the car color using 3M's new 1080. Sponsor's colors are Orange and Black. We've not used 1080 before but heard it's pretty nice to work with.
  2. Cruise ship wrap

Around here they're just plain ol' "party boats".
  3. Primer 94

Crazy question, but why do you prefer to purchase it from a hardware store?
  4. top tips to check for when buying a used VP Roland

I would think maybe the condition of the printing heads would be important. A tech can diagnostically plug in to the firmware and tell you how much life is left in them. At $1000 a pop replacement costs, that's valuable info. Just my 2 cents.
  5. Soljet XF

What's interesting? They don't show anything of the printer's capabilities at all? Strictly a teaser video....without the tease. Yep, nothing there to get you interested. Don't care for a red machine in the work environment either. By the way, we are Roland here. And will be in the market...
  6. Font ID Help Please.

Serpentine? Not at work right now so I can't check.
  7. Font Id please

    Wow.....yer good.
  8. Font Id please

Incidentally this is a logo we designed but the client didn't go for it. But they supplied some of the lettering in a jpg format and now we have to cut some vinyl for the fleet, but we don't know the font. (just the Wilcox & Flegel portion)
  9. The cost of signs

Yeah, well that much is true. We recently landed the contract to letter (25) municipal busses. (We've done eight so far) But I'm told that we were the "low bid", low qualified bid, that is. City requires that they accept the lowest qualified bid. Now I'm wondering how much money was left on...
  10. The cost of signs

I've been wanting to ask this for some time. Just how much to prices vary in this large and diverse country? I understand that the East is far more populated than the West. I understand that large cities, be they in the East or West are more expensive to live in so I would expect sign prices...
  11. Home Town Buffet

I'm quite leery of buffets. Sorry for your troubles, but it's the food-handling that's the "wild card", both by the wait staff......and the patrons. Yikes! You never can know about that stuff.
  12. Printed colors have a "too green" cast. HELP?

Stacy, by all means, meet with and get advice, from your own lighting professional. I'm pretty sure the electrical shop that replaced all 32 of our eight foot fixtures (4 long bulbs in each fixture) said these were special "color correcting" tubes. We now have 64 fixtures with shorter bulbs...
  13. picked up a nasty virus yesterday

Ok Techman, I know that you're head and shoulders above most of us with respect to this tech-y stuff. But tell me, once one is up and running again (after a system restore) shouldn't his proprietary security program catch any residual malware after running a full scan? I guess I just don't...
  14. Printed colors have a "too green" cast. HELP?

Yeah, I know. But we just spent $4000.00 for color corrected lights all throughout the entire shop. Frustrating!
  15. Printed colors have a "too green" cast. HELP?

I'm using VW 4.0. Greys also tend toward greenish, but it's not as large a problem. Right now I'm color correcting within VW itself and re-checking colors. Does the Roland just have "bias" toward green? I thought that I'd read that somewhere on this forum, but the search feature didn't...
  16. Printed colors have a "too green" cast. HELP?

I run a Roland printer. Ever since I've owned it I've had this same problem. Most colors look okay until I go outside the store with them. Whoa! Then medium browns look really greenish! Is there some way to color correct this or is it just a function of the inks and profiles, etc.?
  17. My new toy!!!

    Purchased from Summa directly? (Seattle)
  18. picked up a nasty virus yesterday

System Restore is your best friend. Especially if you have Windows 7. If this happens again, reboot in Safe Mode (f8) and go directly to Start-up Windows repair. After that go to System Restore. Pick the most recent critical update date. Let the system run through that and then re-boot in...
  19. Error message: OPOS can't find registration marks. Cutting aborted.

The solution, for anyone who might be following this thread, is that the center "pair" of registration marks MUST be equal distance from the forward and rearward pairs. If that makes sense. Read the manual but didn't see that important point. All's well now, back in business. Thanks to all...
  20. Error message: OPOS can't find registration marks. Cutting aborted.

Yes, true. This post was made when they were closed and I've been in touch with them this morning. We're working together on the problem.
