  1. Your design level...

I've read this thread a few times and finally decided to jump in :) It's tough to assign a level to yourself. You don't want to sound cocky, and you dont' want to be overtly self-deprecating. So, with that in mind, on a scale of 1-10, I'd say I'm an overall 7, and when it comes to...
  2. Anyone installed this before?

So....basically - adhesive backed magnetic stuck to the wall. Digitally printed magnetic stuck to the wall hung sheets. That's ain't rocket science. It also isnt' a great idea (as pointed out by a few here). Why not do something similar with a backer wall mounted with stand-offs, and have the...
  3. New wrap I finished last night...

Don't do boats - at least we haven't. In any event, I have to say - this is the first time I've taken a beating on here. Feel like I'm earning my keep :) LOL. Gary
  4. New wrap I finished last night...

How would you handle the topper? It's done in gel-coat, so nothign will stick to it for longer than a couple of weeks? Gary
  5. New wrap I finished last night...

Phone number isnt' following the bodyline because the client insisted that it be parallel to the ground. Same with their logo. No amount of talking them out of it worked. Gotta love clients.
  6. New wrap I finished last night...

I think this wrap tried to kill me. Multiple re-prints - design changes galore (this is NOT what I originally designed), lamination issues - UGH!!! BUT, it is done now. Finally. Whatcha think? Gary
  7. Quandary

Couple of thoughts - 1. Do you have your own waterjet? If so, great - if not, I'd do something ont he CNC instead - cheaper. 2. Why not compromise with them and offer a 4'x8'? Then you can still use one sheet. I'd also recommend steering them away from PVC. If they INSIST on PVC, try to steer...
  8. best price on 180c-10 & 3m 8518?

First - PLEASE keep this stuff in the Premium section. PLEASE. Second - Your best bet is to call your supplier directly and find out what they can do. if you have a sales rep, often times they have the discretion to give you some special pricing. IF you are buying a decent amount of stuff from...

Use the search feature. Or better yet - Google it. Gary
  10. Customers are reluctant to...

I find that square foot pricing tends to even things out in the end. For example, a semi, in this economy is a $5500 job - unless someone is lowballing a fleet. Then you better be ready to do it for $4k, or not do it at all. Yes, I charge for the square footage of the vehicle. That is overall...
  11. Customers are reluctant to...

I know that people don't really like this much, but we price wraps by the square foot, and that price is based on the complexity of the vehicle (as far as installation goes). Anywhere from $5-6/sf for semi's up to $12/sf for an HHR. That price includes art. Gary
  12. Lamination....HELP!!!!

Hey everyone. Thanks for all of the replies. This particular job has me under the gun in a big way. Suffice to say, my problem is not solved. Temporary fix is a friend who owns another shop with a 62" Seal Pro. He's lamming for me. (He's a good friend...what can I say). Insignia - I will...
  13. Daige Solo

LOL!!! Fair point :) That being said, there's no way I could run 100'+ of material through a Daige with no issues. I can't speak for the new "solo" model, but in the past lamination on a Daige was a two man job that required an absolute PERFECT amount of tension to be physically applied before...
  14. Lamination....HELP!!!!

    That's not a terrible idea....Thanks! Gary
  15. Lamination....HELP!!!!

I typo'd. It's 180, not 380. Thanks for the video link. Loading the lam isn't the issue. It's loaded, and smooth. Gary
  16. Lamination....HELP!!!!

Holy crap. So, now that I've blown through about $400 worth of Cv3, I'm resorting to asking all of you for help with this STUPID LAMINATION!!!! Here's the rundown of what is involved. Royal Sovereign Cold laminator (55"). 3M 8518 Lam (54") 3M IJ380-Cv3 (54") Laminating prints that are 78"...
  17. Daige Solo

    Daige laminators suck. Gary
  18. Wow....how in the world?

Someone must have bought one of those Mutho's and got a FREE wrap business with it! LOL Gary
  19. Lamination question...

Lam is the same size as the material (3m 8518). I'm actually kind of nervous because I don't want to ruin a perfectly good roll of IJ180-Cv3... Gary
