I think it is a heat problem as well, as I have had that when running large amounts of spot colours. It can be aggrevating to try and control it.

not sure what machine you have but i can do a media compensation on the fly while printing to try and get those bands to look better. also i run unidirectional

I run flexi photoprint and have never even seen a drop down menu for optimize cut, and as stated above even though it is better than not having it clicked it still does it's own thing at times.

print a 12" box and measure all sides if it is larger couldn't you just figure out the %age of how much larger it is and reduce your image by that %age until you find out why it is not working right?

Thats an interesting question, and the reason I say so is that if the software did increase the size of the print that could be a bad thbing as the scale would change. I am interested in hearing the answer to this.
