  1. printing on silver mylar?

I've done quite a bit of thermal resin printing on the R-Tape vinylefx films with great results. I believe they come with a clear vinyl top layer that is suitable for thermal resin & inkjet printing. I have not experimented with it on the inkjet but have heard that it works well also.
  2. Move vinyl forward after cut?

Open "Driver Options" it is listed as "Page Spacing" there is a drop down menu with options from none to 100mm. I've always got mine set to 10mm just so that it advances a bit after one job so that I can send the next without manually advancing it. I have not experimented to see if you can...

If you need a Roland Tech I know someone local and his rates are very reasonable. Let me know and I'll give you his e-mail address.
  4. Move vinyl forward after cut?

In Flexi's Rip ... Driver Options - Select "Advance After Print" Contour Options - Select "Advance After Plot" At least this is what works for me on my Roland thermal resin printer/cutter. Oh Ya, Enter desired "Page Spacing" for desired length of advance.

  6. Printing on colored vinyl?

I print on various brands of colored vinyls & speciality films all the time on both my VersaCamm and my ColorCamm with very good results.
  7. Convex Vinyl

I don't recall which profile I used with the Convex but I generally always use GCVP for calendered media and PGVP for cast media. Every time I've tried the generic profiles I've been unhappy with the results. You could try the MCVP profile since the Convex inkjet media is a matte finish but...
  8. Convex Vinyl

Not sure about Oracal having a high tack vinyl but I've heard good things about the Arlon DPF8000 high tack inkjet media. I recently had a project for labeling several HDPE tanks so I got samples of the Convex high tack and the Arlon DPF8000, I decided to go with the Convex and was very pleased...
  9. Homemade Application Fluid??

Started applying automotive decal kits back in the 70's, at that time they were all pretty much manufactured by 3M and came with an installation instruction sheet which instructed using a mixture of water and non-detergent dish washing liquid such as Joy. I used this for app fluid for many many...

  11. ROLAND SP 300V any good?

It might, that is until you actually used a quality laminator. When I got my SP-300V I picked up a used laminator from a local sign franchise store which was upgrading to a larger printer & laminator. Took all of two phone calls to locate it and got an awesome deal, 2k for a GBC Titan 110...

  14. ROLAND SP 300V any good?

Rock solid printer but occasionally wished I'd have spent the additional 5K and got the 54" SP-540V but still an awesome print/cut machine. I think about 6-7K would be a very fair price for used SP-300V. Don't forget that you'll need several extra grand for a good laminator to accomodate the...
  15. trailer wrap-part of tile off?

I believe your problem is that you changed to a negative (-.5") overlap on the second panel, keep it at .5" for all panels.
  16. Boat Lettering

3640 for boat lettering? Wouldn't that be like wiping your ass with a kleenex? Absoloutly the wrong material for the job, buy the correct material for the job you cheapskate. :thumb: How can you as a professional expect the customer to be willing to pay for the job to be done correctly if...
  17. Bicycles...............

I went shopping for a good mountain bike a few years back and was a bit overwhelmed by all the different grades, options, choices, etc. Then there was the prices, oh my God! I never thought I'd spend over 2K on a bicycle. I selected a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp, great bike and helps keep...

  19. Ugh...can't get this :( Bevelled Font to match customers.

I pointed out a few sites like this to Steve @ A&S and he said that there are just too many to keep up with, that's got to be frustrating.
  20. SP-300V Ink Usage

I agree, PGVP works great for cast media. I experimented with Oracal profiles and they too lay down a ton of ink, just open up Media Explorer and look at the ink limits that each profile uses.
