  1. Printing an object that's not there

Does your graphic have alot of effects in it, AKA gradients and drop shadows? If so, does this "object" appear around those effects? If so, it sounds like your effects were not saved at a high enough resolution. Change them to vectors, and then export as a .TIFF. Should fix the problem. Gary
  2. Today?

    :U Rock:
  3. Sports training center sign layout critique

Honest opinion, I think it fails on several levels. 1. The flag background is overused. You can have a "stars and stripes" feel withought an actual flag. 2. The yellow text just doesn't work, and seems crowded in the sign. Try to do something that let's people know that the facility...
  4. Can't Bring An Object To The Front In Illustrator

Does it happen to be in a different layer? What version of Illy? Gary
  5. Contour Cutting Coro

Ummm....By "Router" I believe he meant either CNC or laser. Gary
  6. Sergio no longer with AZ Color?

    :goodpost:
  7. Large Format Dye-Sub

You may want to try IndyImaging. I think they can go that big with their dye sub. Gary
  8. Sergio no longer with AZ Color?

You may very well be right - but here's the thing. Perception counts. When someone makes the decision to annoint themselves the "industry mouthpiece" they give up the right (as do their defenders) to be offended by how they are percieved. I do not think I am the only person who has this...
  9. Biting the bullet and buying a table

Wholesale. Let me say it again. Wholesale. There are at least 20 shops in a 100 mile radius of mine that do not have in-house CNC capabilities. Develop a wholesale program and hit it hard. It will carry you through the down times. Gary
  10. Sergio no longer with AZ Color?

Gino, That's been my take as well. he seems like a rather arrogant man, but he knows his stuff. As I said earlier in the thread, he doesn't seem like the kind of person who will ever be happy working FOR someone, or being in any one place for very long. Gary
  11. Sergio no longer with AZ Color?

No, but it doesn't surprise me. Everything that I have read or seen either directly from or about Sergio tells me that he absolutely cannot work for/be and underling to anyone. Gary
  12. Coke art

If you aren't selling it, then go for it :) Gary
  13. New Computer...what to buy/recommendations???

Listen to the wise people who are telling you to build your own system. You will be glad you did. Gary
  14. I've got a blog

    I'm dizzy.... Gary
  15. Coke art

If it is original "Coke" artwork I'm guessing that you'd have to liscense it if you are going to sell it. Gary
  16. Street signs

    Good point. Gary
  17. Street signs

Mosh, Is that standard for street name signs as well? My understanding is that it was only for traffic control signs? Gary
  18. I need to explain to a designer why we have trouble with certain colours

Nope - you've got the process down. And you're doing better with it than I would. I'd tell her that if she wants a true pantone match then she should get the checkbook out. Otherwise she is going to have to deal with the limitations of digital CMYK printing. :-) Of course, I'm kind of a...
  19. ORACAL Vinyls

Well, in my opinion you can't go wrong with Oracal 3651. That being said, it REALLY depends on what you are going to be using it for. Stocking a bunch of stuff seems silly to me. A good roll of Cast, a good roll of calendered and some matching lam is all we keep in stock for our shop use. We...
  20. Best IPhone Apps for Signmakers

I would LOVE to find the What the Font app, but have not had any luck. Anyone know the exact name of the app? Gary
