I can't tell from the picture, but is there some service panel along that ceiling somewhere ?? Best way would be to either put angle or flat stock down through the ceiling and attach it up to rafters or supports above the ceiling panels. Otherwise, it won't be very vandal-proof, let alone...

Why not paint the surface/face black and then cut away. You might need a little touch-up, but not much. Are these inside or outside ?? Painting the edges is kinda overkill.

I would not put a flat face in there, or you AND your customer will be sorry. Those are old Pepsi or 7-up cabinets or beer signs built specifically for pan faces. You're lucky if the depth is 6". A lot of them are only 4.5". You will most assuredly have hot-spots. They are standard sizes...
