  1. Help! I've forgotten and can't remember!!

Thank you for all your help. It just wasn't happening in Flexi even though that's where I got the effect the first time. Ended up going through Ai and nailing it. Still bugs me as Flexi, from what I can remember was much simpler to achieve the effect. Note: Design editor in Flexi wasn't a...
  2. Stop Laminator From Drifting To The Right...

Whew, thanks for the support. Sometimes I think if clients saw some of the things we do...
  3. Help! I've forgotten and can't remember!!

I need help replicating the effect in the pic. I did this effect in Flexi on a different job so long ago I can't remember the steps to do it. I know it is something simple I'm missing. Man I feel stupid right now...:banghead:
  4. Stop Laminator From Drifting To The Right...

Two jack stands. One 8' length of 2" exhaust pipe. Two bungee cords. One 3" core. One scrap stick for measuring. Pipe sits on jack stands. Wrap graphics on spare 3" core. Place core over exhaust pipe. Bungee exhaust pipe to jack stands. Use scrap stick to make sure exhaust pipe is same...
  5. Window shop aggravation....

Replace with 0.5" Hyzod. Probl'y tucker them vandals out before they realized it won't break.
  6. Stop Laminator From Drifting To The Right...

For long runs you need an infeed set-up. We set up a Rube Goldberg apparatus to use with our RS laminator. It will run 60' with a quarter inch drift. EVERYTHING depends on the lead edge being ABSOLUTELY perpendicular to the edge of the material. We also run 2 layers of 2 inch masking tape on...
  7. Waste Inks

Local tattoo parlor may be able to use it.
  8. Window Perf Tips

If there is nothing legal stating you need to use a laminate stop using it. We don't laminate any of our perf. Just gets sprayed with SW Kut-In clear. Over here there are a few counties/states that require it. Most don't AFAIK.
  9. Just one of those days...

If your boss is being negative go find another job. It took me a large chunk of my life to figure that out. It was never good enough, fast enough, pretty enough...well you get the picture. My best day of work there was when I got laid off. I was the only guy smiling. Spent the next 3 years...
  10. A word to the wise

Good tip, but too late for us. Next morning after our printer was delivered and set up I go to turn it on. That's when I noticed ink leaking out of both ends, dripping onto the floor.
  11. Knowing what you know now...

I would open a shop with an eye towards products with "ambiguous value". Items not priced by the square foot or anything remotely skewed towards commoditization. CNC products, custom fab etc... It has proven out with my welding business. Folks don't flinch at my hourly rate and don't try to...
  12. Which mild / eco solvent printer has the most durable ink?

Geez nothing like an open ended question that depends on nearly unlimited variables. There is no "best". Anything you will learn here will be subjective, not definitive because of exhaustive lab tests. Variables: Printer Laminate No laminate Printer environmental conditions Environmental...
  13. What Machine/Process is this???

First one I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COn-C6RmYoE One of the slower rigs though.
  14. How do I create this background?

Looks easy enough. Find a PS tut for Rust. Manipulate to get desired grunge. Easy sleddin' after that.
  15. What Machine/Process is this???

Go to Graph Expo in Chicago. They will have those digital label presses running. Run so fast it looks fake until you see the blank feed roll. Latest rigs will do one million labels per shift. Laser looks like a shower of light since it has to go through the smoke made from "die" cutting...
  16. MS Word not a graphics program -Oh really?

Very talented! Never knew Word had those capabilities. Too bad he's the only one on the planet that can do that. Everyone else thinks they can.
  17. SP540V Cut Carriage Cable

No sh!t Sherlock. Found those over a week ago. I should have been more specific. Any merchant members that can help? I also want to make sure I get a good part form a reputable company in case there are issues with the product. Seems there have been a few folks on here that have done it...
  18. New Building Construction

If I were building a new shop I would have a "filthy room" completely sealed off from everything else. All cutting, routering, grinding, anything that makes dust, a mess, or smells would be in that room. It would have its own HVAC with make up air too. I would also have a real, up to code...
  19. SP540V Cut Carriage Cable

Where can I buy a cut carriage cable. I searched and found threads regarding the DIY instructions, but nobody said where they bought the cable. Area rep left me hangin', again.
  20. Fast and Reliable printers!

Midwest Sign is having a Seiko demo Nov. 5th at their New Berlin location. Not sure if that helps.
