  1. Anyone print PVC banners with Roland printers?

No issues here. Just have to let the ink set. We usually print banners in the afternoon then hem next morning. 13oz JetFlex works a treat.
  2. Tis the season for decorating

Yay! Bimbo's is still open!!! Pig roast with skin and torpedo's. Can you PM your number and address? Slim chance I could stop by next time I'm up that way. IIRC you're towards Spread Eagle...?
  3. Best way to clean off prints...

Not a big fan of tacky hands, but it beats the alternative. We take the tack cloth out of the wrapper and unfold it completely. Then drop it in a pile on a clean surface in a loose pile. This makes a, well it ain't exactly fluffy, but it makes a large surface area that doesn't stick to...
  4. Tis the season for decorating

Nothing' better to do?:Big Laugh Looks good. I used to live in your neck of the woods. Besides hunting, fishing and the tavern there ain't much to keep you occupied. Gonna try to make it up this week to see Ma and Pa. Maria's Cantina in Kingsford just closed so we'll go back to...
  5. Vinyl For Aircraft

Well I was close.LOL I knew there was something regarding approval/inspection.
  6. Best way to clean off prints...

Tack rags from an automotive paint shop. Crystal brand. These are specifically made to pick up debris while leaving nothing behind. I refuse to use anything else. Ruining a print is nothing compared to ruining a paint job. Last overall I did paint was $175 a quart and clear coat was $700 a...
  7. Vinyl For Aircraft

I think this was discussed previously. What I gathered is it's best to talk to an FAA certified person about it. AFAIK anything added to the outside of a plane has the chance of altering flight characteristics. Best to have all your ducks in a row when doing anything with aircraft.
  8. Our New Work Table..

Well aren't you just the little handyman?! JK Looks nice. Seems to be fairly light too using plywood for reinforcing.
  9. What is the best banner tape to use????

Been using STM brand from Fellers. Works a treat. IIRC some folks use PVC cement and rave about the results. I haven't tried it yet since I usually get more glue on me than the project.LOL
  10. 55in USTECH WORF AK-500 professional cold laminator

Anybody else notice the laminator at the end of US Cutters vid was different than the one they started with? Started with crank roller height adjustment and ended with power height adjustment. Even zoomed right in on the control panel.
  11. Use of Logos on window art for the back of pickup windows?

Fair enough. Your business model is far different from ours. We had a quite a thing going on Ebay a couple years ago. Made decent bank. Then offshore competition put a dagger in it. Wasn't about to do them for 50 bucks including shipping.
  12. Health Care Exchange

It may apply as more and more employers are dropping spousal coverage in an effort to contain costs. I belong to a racers forum and a bunch of those folks are getting the "letter". Never think it can't happen to you...
  13. Chevy vs Ford..., I mean Summa vs Graphtec

Summa is on my To Buy list. Biggest reason is accuracy. Summa posts +-0.004 over 12meters(40 freakin' feet!) Other plotters have that valuable tracking info buried in their spec sheets if it's even listed. One manufacturer states something to the effect of 0.2% or 0.00394" whichever is...
  14. Your opinion on warranties.

IMO the mfg's warranties aren't worth the paper they're written on. It is a feel good tactic to get shops locked into buying their product. I've said it before I'll say it again. When money is going their way it's all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. Saying or doing whatever it takes to get...
  15. Your opinion on warranties.

We offer the tail light warranty. When we can't see 'um there's no warranty. :Big Laugh Actually our shop has the gentleman's agreement warranty. I tell clients if there is any issue whatsoever for X amount of time come back. It has worked well through the years. Of course there are...
  16. Use of Logos on window art for the back of pickup windows?

A better Google search would be to find what happens to those people printing copyrighted logos. RedBull even has a snitch page on their website. To say they're tenacious in pursuit and prosecution is the understatement of the decade.
  17. Health Care Exchange

Like artbot I believe the "system" was designed to fail opening the door to single payer. I doubt we're wrong...
  18. Health Care Exchange

Seems like a lot of sites are crashed according to another forum I belong to. Guy also posted about his sister, BIL and kids getting zinged for around $2500 per year. Went from $4400 a year to nearly 7 grand.:omg: don't worry you can keep your plan and it will be sooo much...
  19. Cut line in illustrator for VersaWorks

We use the Roland CutContour swatch. You can download it and add it to a palette or have it by itself in Ai. Roland set it up to work perfectly with VW.
