  1. Value of a used Summa

We have a T1010 that is at least 12 years old with no major work. I recently replaced the cutting strip and changed the settings on the head force as it is now in need of replacement. But the band-aid should last another few months. Then it will probably be replaced by a second printer/cutter.
  2. How do I get this powerpoint file into Flexi

try www.freefileconvert.com. Converting to an older version of .ppt might help if it is a .pptx
  3. Layzply.com - a new way to lay vinyl

Once you have your print clamped down, half folded over with the backing paper removed, couldn't you just pull the sign out of the "device" towards yourself and mount half the print in an armswoop?

They actually cost about 2.5 - 3.5 mil, depending on options. Imagine being able to print a million pages per day, each one being unique.
  6. Removed vinyl, how to clean "ghosting"

With something like this, I would cover the entire face with a solid color of trans vinyl and then lay opaque black lettering on top of that.

  11. Help to identify font, please!

From the looks of the car and those numbers, they look "custom" to me. Might look like a font, but there was probably nothing vector about that job. And as for uploading a bitmap for your first post, I highly doubt you are a signmaker. EDIT: if it is vinyl, there's no money in the job.
  12. Some recent projects

With a 5.0 as my daily driver, I love Mustangs! Nice job on those wraps. Hopefully the turbo inlet on that Pro 5.0 doesn't suck the whole wrap in, lol.
  13. trouble with cut contour AI to versaworks

Is your background a single color? An example of what your doing would help a lot... I've got lots of tricks.
  14. Advanced cutting with Versaworks

Doesn't that method leave like 3" of media hanging off the front and back of every sheet, probably doubling your material use? This is what I have found on the Roland SP540V. I cut up to 36" lengths for small decals, and use 5 pinch rollers when cutting.
  15. Flyer design for Christmas Sale

Too much shadow/glow around the photo objects. I think crisp edges on those would make a big difference. And give each ornament it's own color, creating a vibrant attention grabbing color splash that represents a real family tree...
  16. Printed Channel Letter Faces?

I print with the "return to origin after printing" box checked. Then print again, on top of your dried print. This to me is better then an overprint x2 because all of that ink mixes together in one pass and distorts the colors.
  17. Save your scrap

I save scrap vinyl mainly besause we also sandblast. I can turn a 4" x 30" scrap into at least 6 sandblast masks for wedding flutes at $20 each. Whats that work out to, $1 per square inch? And that is calendered vinyl... And for those without a blasting cabintet, you can do the same with a...

I cut the the text normal size in the background color, and then apply a .05" outline to the text and cut in the second color. Apply on top and even with shrinkage it will not show light through.
