Mimaki is superior. I never saw anyone unbiased say otherwise. I am biased now, because I've been running one for 3 years... but I wasn't biased when I chose it, and neither was my supplier who sold both printers.

I've read of enough talented & well respected designers using Corel, that I don't doubt for a minute that it is a comprable program, that due to being different, has some apparent advantages over Illustrator in certain features, just as illustrator has advantages in other features. That said...

I use a dedicated rip computer for my Mimaki, & therefore, it is extremely rare that I use the CD drive, so another suggestion that I considered was to locate the CPU closer to your printer, but use longer wires for the keyboard, mouse and monitor. As it is, I have made do with a 12' Firewire...
