  1. Oh, the customers that try and save money.

Can't count the times I have had someone bring me a real estate sign stolen from a corner, which they've repainted and want me to letter. Worse is when they bring a repainted coro (right over the lettering) sign and want it lettered. Next! Love....Jill
  2. Another Pool Company Wrap...

I like the beautiful pools one too, I think you did a good job incorporating the employee (?) lifeguard pix. But I do have to say, even just making that "Q" in "aqua" in white would have made a huge difference in the contrast. Typography seems a bit odd in the website, maybe dropping the www...
  3. I hate when I get an itch...

Sometimes I just take a scrap of SignFoam (they used to give away bigger scraps at trade shows) and use a jigsaw, sandpaper and a dremel tool to shape it into a dimensional add-on for a flat sign. I had great fun with epoxy putty to make roses for a sign once, just like playing with playdoh but...
  4. Ice Cream Parlor Layout Critique

Good reminder for all of us, JRs, to always check the alts! I usually do, particularly on script Rs and Ss. I use charmap but there are probably other ways. Thanks for trying the pink, it's my fave color. Tastes like strawberry.
  5. Ice Cream Parlor Layout Critique

The colors seem really weak. Nothing stands out. Try a bright pink background (like Pepto Bismol color or darker) Other than that it makes me crave a small chocolate cone dipped in chocolate. I like the oval idea. Love....Jill
  6. Shane Durnfords new site is up. Prepare to be humbled....big time.

Shane I have always admired both you and your work. And I totally agree about less being more! Love....Jill
  7. Which one?

Middle one, I can almost see a c and an i in the icon. Love....Jill
  8. Simple carved sign

Refreshingly simple. I get so sick of seeing clutter. Love....Jill
  9. Good times in Orlando

Hey Dave sounds like you are enjoying yourselves. Have fun and try to avoid Disneyworld! :) I would rather go to the dentist than go back. Sorry your hotel was skungy. Be glad it's not "America's Best". Love....Jill
  10. Font ID help me please

If you are really desperate for an athletic style font here is a freebie. You would just have to node-edit the bottom of the 1 and add an outline. Love....Jill
  11. Painting Borders?

I usually use first fineline tape for the inner edges then masking tape along the outside of that, then paint using a 1" Foamie. You have to peel the tape up just so or you get a fine spatter pattern. I have also drawn lines with a ruler and stabilo and used a lettering brush for more high-end...
  12. Need Your Tough Love (Input)

Here's a quick idea. I don't have a vehicle outline or fills or time to do that, this is just general for tones and content. You'd have to get a "real" drawing not a mincemeat clipart/font montage like this.
  13. Need Your Tough Love (Input)

Neither idea says "food" to me and the color is kinda pukey. First one has no contrast. From the thumbnails it looks more like animal print than flames. It could be a fun idea, Signmaniac has a nice take on it. With a name like Strollins I can envision sort of a "Keep on Truckin" kind of man...
  14. Race Car Lettering

I have never yet dealt with a racer who did not want multiple colors, outlines, special effect vinyl etc. Also scanning and cleaning of umpteen sponsors. Usually at the last minute. Perhaps if I had a printer but to me it is just not worth my time or talent. Even hand painting the cars wasn't...
  15. Race Car Lettering

You were totally used, rode hard, put away wet. It will be a lesson you won't soon forget. Never be so easy and cheap again. Now here have a hug. Love....Jill PS I try to avoid doing race cars like the plague, at best, it is a thankless task and has never generated any real jobs for me.
  16. Questions about smalted signs??

I would definitely not use the PVC for the reasons Jim states. Any pix of the project or layout so we might give some more concise advice? I am thinking with the aluminum if there is the least bit of flex little pieces of glass will crumble off. Love....Jill
  17. lost a bid by 20 today

Wow and I thought last week was bad when someone told me they could get what I was bidding on for $175 less. Love....Jill
  18. new logo tweaked

Here's the suggestions again that I posted in your other thread. Glad you lost the shiney lightbulb and the chrome stuff. Start in black and white and then tart it up. But not too tarty. It would be a nightmare to reproduce in embroidery or cut vynull, I'm thinking. I don't care for the arch...
  19. new logo tweaked

...looks like you are using all-caps in a script font. Use something legible. But better than the skull one. Love....Jill
  20. Need help on new logo idea

Really like that one, signmeup. Clever. You could also take that and make a flying eyeball out of it, but I think that idea is used to death. Might be too scary too. hahaha
