  4. Discussion Have ya gotten the feeling......................

My kid is about double your age. Yes, I have equipment that's older than me. Doesn't make it unusable. Had a guy in here last week, ask me about a piece of old equipment I hardly use anymore. He said when I wanna sell it, he'll buy it, no matter what the price. Oh boy, oh boy.
  5. Discussion Have ya gotten the feeling......................

Well, I wasn't talking about the power going out or wouldn't you wanna go back to those days...... just that the pattern makers are dying off. We hadda create everything from scratch more or less. Nothing wrong with technology, except, now, at our shop.... one printer alone, takes the place of...
  6. Discussion Have ya gotten the feeling......................

Have ya gotten the feeling, that making signs anymore has nothing to do with really making signs, anymore ?? In other words, for the younger people, it might not make sense and looked at as old farts just griping...... but it's not, not really. Years ago, you hadda make thumbnail sketches...
  7. Fun hand made sign

Very nicely executed. It's been decades, but I've used decoupage in the past, however not modge podge. Do they work the same ??
  8. Just In Not really hand made..................

Yeah, used my fair share of that crap, too over the years. Burned quite a few nose hairs out. I swear with all the junk we used years ago, that's why my sense of smell has lessened. Cripes, back then, you didn't even hafta wear masks when spraying lacquer. I knew a guy who had holes burned...
  9. Question Painting Raw Aluminum + Reflective

Well then, I'd stay clear of making suggestions, regardless of what you hear and/or read here. There are only 2 or 3 people on here qualified to answer you and hopefully they will. All others will be personal emotional answers. Have them get it from the horses mouth of some body shop in your...
  10. Question Painting Raw Aluminum + Reflective

You might wanna let the Auto Body Shop doing the work make those suggestions. A good oven baked finish would be best for any graphics.
  11. No-Maintenance Exterior Sign

We're running a special on this right now. White copy and graphics on a white background. 50% off and should last between 10 and 15 years, except for bird guano. That'll need some washing, but use mild detergents and you'll be fine.
  12. Pricing and template rescource

    Ding..... ding...... ding.....ding..............................................
  13. Just In Not really hand made..................

I didn't hand make the awning, but I did double coat the words on it. First coat took about an hour. Pounced it on and painted yesterday. The second coat took about 30 minutes, today. It's white latex on maroon Sunbrella. About 14' wide and 10" high, except for the little lettering. For...
  14. Suggestions which vinyl to use on back-lit sign

Looks like he did an overlay on that, so I'd imagine the whole thing over. Went from 3 tenants to 4. For all that, I'd just print it on translucent digital media and lam it. Too many colors to be playing around with all that inlay crap. Besides, it's gonna change again. So, what if you...
  15. Pricing and template rescource

Please..... any questions of preferential quoting or pricing.... have them directed towards our community expert, mr stereotype quoting person. He's an extrapolate expert, too. If you have any marital, tax, money, political or IQ problems, he will solve them, too. He knows everything...
  16. Need a printer that will be safe and oderless

Does that mean they are safe in schools and hospitals AFTER they have dried and cured, then laminated or while the printing process is taking place where things are being heated up to accept inks and dry ?? You realize after printing, when inks are drying they are simply passing their binders...
  17. Cut the seams on a large graphic on a trailer?

You're most lilely gonna hafta cut back to where there's no caulk or whatever they used. I believe it's a type of Silicon adhesive. You might have at least an 1/8" gap or whatever the division is in each panel. Be sure to keep that in mind when placing elements in the design.
  18. Pricing and template rescource

Right there's YOUR sh!t in your own writing, toad. Sure, you'll have some way of worming out of it, but that's you. You said the other stuff, too, but it's just not worth the time regurgitating your on-going rhetoric. Why do you write this stuff, then back-pedal all the time ?? It was nicer...
  19. Pricing and template rescource

Folks, we're talking about a piece of vinyl less the 12" high and 48" wide.... on two sides of a truck hood.... maybe laminated. Anyone confusing this with my statement of a Mercedes and a VW..... well, just doesn't belong in this conversation. 4 sq ft of vinyl is 4 sq ft of vinyl.... is 4 sq...
