I’ve always found that all the softwares etc are exactly the same as the printers. They will need updated every few years.
Even as far as the Adobe cc package, a few of the newer bits they’ve added have saved me LOADS of time.
Just like in the printers, the rips are constantly trying to make...
Depends on your workload and job types. We average about 20k-25k jobs a year so doing a profit/loss on every job wouldn’t be fun.
It obviously makes massive sense to know how much everything costs for offering bulk prices etc but for every job just sounds like you’re giving yourself extra work...
Ok here we go;
step 1. create indesign file that's 8' by 4' (i work in mm so 1220x2440)
step 2. draw a box that is your artwork size, (this step is important as when indesign steps the artwork up, it'll need this to know how big your artwork is (this is generally a cut contour line for me but...
And someone else asked, yes you can data merge images in indesign also, you just need to name the column “‘@image” in the spreadsheet and then put the path to the image in the cell.
path to the image would be something like user - desktop - data merge pics - file name.jpg and it’ll work fine...
I can still definitely do this about two different ways in indesign and each would be very quick and efficient. Can also include cut layers, flex layers etc too with no issue. I’ll have a look and upload some pics later
Anything that isn’t variable should be set up on the master page. It’ll merge a million times faster and the file will be 1/1000th of the size.
Learned that the hard way doing wedding invites for a friend. Merged the names and the output PDF was 120MB, changed it up and put all the stuff that’s...
Not sure about re-rolling but If I recall correctly to get all that cured they’re running 3 layer at about 2msq/hour.
Fair enough it’s great to have the option but that’s way too slow for someone that does that work regularly.
I’ve never had any issues with PC to Colorado. We can send a full roll worth in about a minute or so. Our PC isn’t top of the range or anything either. Just slightly better than the spec canon recommended for running the Colorado.
Don’t have a flatbed yet so can’t speak for that lol
Would do this in indesign, if you drop a box that’s the right size of your artwork into your desired sheet size, when you go to merge choose multiple record layout and it will merge as many as it can into your max sheet size then make new sheets for you.
Or data merge your finished finished...
I do prefer it that way. You can line up as many jobs as you want on as many different media’s and the Colorado won’t try print them until you load the right media that’s the right width. Essentially a hold queue on the Colorado.
Means onyx is clear and it’s only the jobs you still need to...
Short of creating your own profiles there’s a couple options.
Maybe try different profiles, one might get you a more accurate match.
or for this artwork there doesn’t look like that many colours. Use the colour match part of onyx, print loads of swatches close to each colour and pick the one...
Being fair to it, RL does what it needs to do.
Being realistic, 5 was a mile ahead of 6 and 6 is just downright clunky. I hated 6 so much I got onyx for the CJV30 and haven’t looked back.
Biggest annoyamce was lack of scaling for cut jobs
Yeah we had one job that was ~27 rolls of floor vinyl, sent it as one sheet of 9 vinyls and just put 1400 or something in the layout copies. All that work and it just appeared as one little job on the Colorado. (Plus very handy that the Colorado counts sheets this way so even if the roll runs...
Is it at different parts every time? Maybe stick some masking tape or something over the media sensor if there is one and just remember to take it off before printing something else lol
You might want to make your own thread about that problem.
Any more info? Does it start out ok and trail off? Off right away? Consistently off or gradually get worse?
Yeah especially for the Colorado there’s about 4 different ways to send every job. For multiple rolls etc of the same artwork I just send a tiny amount and in the layout preview set loads of copies. Even if the roll runs out it’ll count them for you.
Back in lockdown 1, for floor vinyls...
