  1. So...how are your sales ending the year?

If it wasn’t for COVID I’d say we were about even on sales. Heck if it wasn’t simply for floor graphics we’d be even on sales. We won a couple HUGE contracts for floor graphics so that kept us going when literally all the other work stopped. Had all 8 staff simply printing/cutting/boxing floor...
  2. Manufacturer Training in Mimaki Printers Needed

That’s probably the way to go. The tech that works on our mimaki also does Roland and Mutoh. He used to work for hybrid I think but must be better off on the non certified route.
  3. So...how are your sales ending the year?

We’re about 250% up from last financial year already and we run to April. Which is not bad considering dypinc probably doesn’t think covid exists. Even finishing December strong, which is usually our quietest month. Just got a couple huge orders that will keep me busy over the holidays on the...
  4. Oce Colorado Owners - 1m2 Ink usage?

Last time I checked we average about 120 litres for every 18000 sqm. That is up from our old average of about 100 litres but we did a LOT of full coverage posters for covid.
  5. UV Roll to Roll printers

I’m in the UK and our power supply went last week. It has been down a lot lately. Just good it chews threw the work once it’s back up!
  6. Summa S2T 140 consistently poor print/cut

I might be wrong but I thought autoload was just the summa making sure that the tracking was ok?
  7. Help me cut thick stuff

You gotta be a merchant member to advertise yourself. Also as far as I’m aware a summa roll cutter isn’t a CNC.
  8. Working with my new Summa S2 T Series

we had a mimaki print and cut before we got the Colorado. We had to create the artwork, make the cut lines, step up in illy, drop reg marks etc then go through the print/cut process in rasterlink. Now we make the artwork including a cutcontour line (1 up), step up in onyx (by just noting how...
  9. Switched to TR2 inks and now have roller tracks now and not before

It’ll likely just be those inks take longer to dry. You’ll either have to change the ink limits or if possible put the heater up.
  10. Need Help Vinyl banner question

Cheap and a 6 hour turn around? Those two things should not go together
  11. Working with my new Summa S2 T Series

There are probably ways to get the Mac running jobs on the summa but I work primarily on a Mac and have a rip PC that I run onyx and winplot from. How are you running onyx?
  12. Working with my new Summa S2 T Series

Summa and onyx go very well together. Pretty much everything is automated. From barcode generation to cutting 10 different files in a row with no intervention. And winplot is what you’re after if you are doing cut only. what are you having trouble with?
  13. UV Roll to Roll printers

Speed is likely the issue for the UCJV. You’d need 2 or three to keep up with the Colorado which entails more maintenance, and double/triple everything else that regularly needs changed. Also not sure about the tech support in aus?
  14. UV Roll to Roll printers

How wide does it need to be?
  15. Colorado 1650 owners, How are they?

just had a look, max speeds of about 90m2, for comparable quality I’d say it’s a little over half the speed of the Colorado on most settings. So Colorado still the quicker (and a fair bit cheaper) option!
  16. Colorado 1650 owners, How are they?

I’ve always been under the impression that the R2R on the Arizona’s is poor? So guessing the Colorado would handle the media no problem if you can print from a roll on the Arizona.
  17. Printing Shiny (Glossy) on Matte paper

Yeah even the Colorado 1650 that can print either Matt or gloss uses the same ink for both finishes. It’s just how quickly they cure the dots that changes I believe (the heads move in tandem for Matt, instantly pinning the dots)
  18. Keep fixing old printer or buy new?

We have about a 10 year old mimaki solvent printer and it’s still great. As far as quality goes these things are built to last. There isn’t “that” much that can go wrong with these printers, the heads being likely the highest cost item. Once you get those changed out it might as well be a...
  19. Colorado 1650 owners, How are they?

The quality is perfect at 40m2, we have 0 issues on any media’s. For standard vinyls/posters production mode is fine. (That’s the 60m2 at gloss and assuming the 48m2 at Matt) - Matt is slower than gloss at the same quality mode. Production mode doesn’t use the AAC or automatically monitor the...
  20. What is this mess?

We prefer PDF. (Almost) Everybody has Adobe reader. That and there’s less weirdness with customer supplied PDF’s too. We ask everything to be PDF.
